Melonie Diaz is celebrating her 38th birthday. Diaz grew up on New York’s Lower East Side. She attended the Professional Performing Arts School in Manhattan, and began acting in her teens.

Since 2018, Diaz has become well known to viewers of The CW’s reboot of Charmed. She stars as Mel Vera, one of three sisters who are witches and share the “Power of Three.”



Diaz made her film debut in 2001, in Double Whammy. She then had a supporting role in the indie teen rom-com Raising Victor Vargas. She was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Female for the 2006 film A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints.

For the next decade, Diaz remained a prominent presence in indie films. She starred in the lesbian rom-com Itty Bitty Titty Committee and the drama American Son. She also had supporting roles in films such as Hamlet 2, Assassination of a High School President, and The Cobblers. Diaz was an Independent Spirit Award nominee a second time for the 2013 drama Fruitvale Station.

Diaz made her stage debut at 17, in an off-off-Broadway play titled Love, Medea. She has also appeared in a number of theater festival productions. She has a long list of TV guest appearances, and was a regular on the short-lived 2016 series The Breaks.
