I had seen about 10 episodes of this show and none of them had a laugh track.
This episode didn't either until about the 18:39 mark. |

The series was also notable for being one of the first sitcoms to eliminate the use of the laugh track, which set the series apart from other sitcoms on at the time.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occasional_Wife I also see it was narrated by Vin Scully. How’d that work?

I didn't think that the lack of a laugh track was odd, just that they decided to finally insert one during the last few minutes of an episode was weird. |

Though he is uncredited as the show's narrator, Vin Scully is best known as the long time voice of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

I'm beginning to think this was an NBC thing because Hazel also had a large absence of a laugh track during a good portion of season 2 either that or Screen Gems was just too lazy to check things. We'll never know because those people are all dead.
