Does anyone else but me really like the episode with Michael and the older black lady? From to Sophia stumbling upon Michael’s fiancé’s family, to Rose complaining about the white people dancing on Soul Train, to Blanche talking about sex with black men, this episode is a riot. Probably one of the best episodes.

The episode worked because it took stereotypes and reversed them. The white mother was not upset her son was dating a black woman, it was the age. The black mother was not upset her son was dating a young man but upset he was white.
The black mother comes to Dorothy's house and thinks Dorothy is the housekeeper. Blanch and Rose have mud on their face and the black woman says they must be Michael's parents. It all came together perfectly and was funny. |

Dorothy's issue was age. She kept harping on the age difference. The set up was for viewers to think that but each mother took the opposite stereotype. There is a line where Dorothy says "race or her being black has nothing to do with it....she is twice your age" or something like that
