Sad Try, Try again

This episode starts at the dance studio showing Jan dance with ballet dancers. We see a few glimpses of Cindy that look edited in. Correct me if I am wrong, but we don't see Marcia in the group. However back at the house Cindy and Marcia say they were both picked for the recital but not Jan. Where was Marcia at the studio?
When the music stops and the teacher tells everyone to look at the bulletin board she calls Jan's name. Jan stops and walks towards the teacher almost before the teacher even calls Jan's name (almost a goof).
When Jan comes back to the house she is upset and crushes one of the boy's ping pong balls with her shoe. This scene is usually edited out.
When Jan starts to learn tap dancing she knocks over her dad's meal in the kitchen which makes a big mess. She does not help clean up and just walks away LOL.
Her siblings are so cruel to Jan. She just started learning to tap dance and they beg their parents to stop her. Marcia tells her mom Jan has no talent for tap dancing and Peter says he saw a bear on TV do a better tap dance. Then Jan's siblings all try and fool her and let her win at games after humiliating her and telling her she has no talent for dancing. How cruel.
When your child starts something i.e. playing soccer, basketball or dancing, why would you discourage them and tell them they have no talent just after starting the activity?

As you can tell, this episode drives me nuts which is why I like it so much

You make a lot of good points.

I would say that you're observations are par for the course in the Brady universe. Picking on Jan seems to be the best way to love and appreciate Jan Brady. The BB movies/spoofs really picked up on this!

I would speculate that there's an unseen moment when Marcia walks into the dance studio and is promised a spot - only because she's Marcia Brady

It ticked me off that Jan didn't clean up the mess she made after she caused her dad to spill his meal.

Well Jan paid for that eventually. She was routinely taken to the eye doctors to wear extra goofy glasses. Then at the dentist, she wore braces for additional time.

In the Silver Platter episode Greg calls Jan a ding a ling. Thats fair and typical Brady banter but her sisters both call her stupid. Marcia tells Jan "how can you be so stupid" Cindy tells the bank manager about the jam they are in is because of "Jan being so stupid." Thats pretty harsh coming from a Brady calling anyone stupid let alone their own sibling.
In the Miss Popularity episode Peter calls Jan a super creep but I think she deserved it in that episode

We normally get much milder terms like capital G Goof off, stinker, or ding a ling. They let it rip when it came to Jan. She had no talent and needed to be stopped from dancing and she was a super creep and just stupid Bobby would not even pass her the potato chips when she wanted to be an only child

The girls also go at it when Peter tapes them, and drops the info. to one of them later.

Peter and Bobby get into it when Bobby goes overboard with requests after Peter saves him. Ultimately Peter leaves Bobby locked in the closet.
