Cool Longest Running Spin-off

Can you think of the longest running spin-off? I know The Facts of Life was from 1979-1988 thats like 9 years. Can anyone think of a longer one than that?

"Frasier" looks like it will set the new record in another season or two..

Happu Days was 10 years. That was a spin off of an episode of Love American Style

While that is a popular theory, it's just not true. According to Ron Howard that's not true, LAS did air a skit once that many believed to have been the idea for happy Days but its not really true. Happy Day's IS NOT A SPINOFF.

You're probably right. It's doubtful that Frasier will surpass the Simpsons.

I don't know, NBC seems to love FRASER, so it just may surpass The Simpsons.

I don't know...

Simpsons is an animated series. As long as the writers keep coming up with ideas, and as long as the actors are willing to do the voices, that show could go on forever...
Live actors, on the other hand, grow weary of playing the same characters year after year...

true, but keep in mind that FRASER has a 5-year contract left at NBC. so it very well could surpass the Simpsons.

Well at this piont, the longest-running non-animated spin-off series is The Jeffersons which lasted 11 seasons and made a total of 253 episodes.
I don't consider Happy Days a spin-off but if it was it would probably the longest-running one. Just my thoughts.

Hmmm. Maybe you're right. "Simpsons" has never gotten much respect, I mean, it has never been nominated for an Emmy for outstanding comedy, because they still categorze it as a cartoon. So while it may in fact set the record for longest running spinoff, many will still see it as "just a cartoon." Kelsey Grammer will set the record for most years playing the same TV character, so it is possible the folks at Frasier want to set another record as well...

Personally I think "Simpsons" has gotten pretty stale the past few seasons, but it's FOX's signature show, and they don't want it to end.

Well actually THE SIMPSONS was nominated as Best Comedy Series one time, but it lost so then it went back to the best animated series race, rightfully so as it is a cartoon.

"CatDog" is a cartoon. Do you think "Simpsons" should be in the same category as that show?
