What I can recall it was a very tragic story about a boy who was riding along with his father (a patrol officer) when he was killed during a traffic stop or something along these lines and they're seeking the patrol officer's (father's) killer. **Not the Kurt Sova** case. Thank you.

I think 1990 UM Fan is correct that this is the case you're thinking of. This crime happened not too far from where I'm from and is still remembered. There is a section of highway named after Officer Ganz.

Thankfully, his nephew was not injured (the segment doesn't mention it, but the killer did try to fire at him).

It was left off the FilmRise streaming. His case was looped in with the discussion of Cogni-Tech, a technology that enhances surveillance videos.
