Default When the show needed to end

I was just wondering does everyone think the show ended at the right time or should it have ended sooner or later. What do you think and why.

I think Cheers was at a critical ending point in season 9. As the show went into the 90's it wasnt funny. Sam wasn't any fun beause he wasn'ta ladies man anymore. Rebeccawas a whining sobbing idiot. Norm, well, norm never really changed. Carla lost her sinical edge. Woody seemed toget dumber every season. I didn't like Kelly either, she didn' seem to belong there.

I think it definatly ended when Rebecca and Sam began talking about parenthood. I mean, Sam never chased girls as much after that, and he was supposed to be the ultimate lady's man. I guess I should say that when the character lost his trade mark, it wasn't fun anymore. I would have said when Diane left, but Rebecca was a good choice to add. I loved her!

I think the show ended for me when they destroyed Frasier and Lilith's relationship.

Anyway, I think Lilith and Frasier made Cheers after Diane left. Lilith breathed new life into the show. Rebecca was only physically Diane's replacement. She couldn't match up to the caliber of Diane's comic relief... but Lilith surpassed it, in my opinion.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Rebecca. She had her funny moments, but she couldn't live up to Diane, no matter how hard she tried. I honestly don't believe she was meant to... they just needed some romantic connection for Sam on the show. Unfortunately, there was ZIP romantic chemistry between Kirstie and Ted.

Lilith: I mapped out our dominant and recessive traits on a genome square, applied Mendel's laws, allowed for anomolies, and concluded that you are the best biological choice.
Frasier: I see. Well, enticed as I am by your honeyed words, I'm gonna need some kissin'.
Lilith: Frasier, don't misunderstand. I'm not proposing any change in our relationship.
Frasier: Would we sleep together?
Lilith: I thought we'd freeze your sperm.
Frasier: Is that a yes or a no?
Lilith: Natural fertilization isn't practical. I'd have to fly to Seattle every time I ovulate.
Frasier: Right, okay. So then, your plan is for me to visit some local doctor, freeze my essence, and then bring it home with you.
Lilith: Correct. I'll take mine to go!

I think the show should have ended when Woody and Kelly got married. The show wasnt the same since.

I think Cheers stayed on about a season too long, but all in all, I always loved it. My favorite years were the Diane years.

Cheers started to fade a little in Season 9. But I felt that the last 2 seasons were good, and the show could have gone on longer.

I wish Cheers would have never ended. I am tempted to say that Cheers should have ended when Shelley left, which is a natural thing for a Shelley or Diane fan to say. However, I grew to like Kirstie, and as previous posts have stated, it gave us all a chance to get to know Frasier and Lilith better. They definately stole the show after Shelley left. I wish Shelley would have never left, but it was nice to see Kirstie in the cast. I think that the show ended when everyone felt it was right. I heard that the writers were going to make Woody Harrelson the main center of the show when Ted Danson said he was leaving, and go beyond 11 seasons. I am so glad that they didn't do that. I think that the show would have never been the same without Ted. I am happy with the time that Cheers was on.

Cheers never really had to end when it did. The show never "Jumped the Shark" as so many other shows did. The show was still funny, still creative and still generated great ratings up until the very end. How many other shows can lose key cast members (Nicholas "Coach" Colasanto, Shelley "Diane" Long and briefly Bebe "Lilith" Neuwirth) and still remain funny? Not too many!

i kno it cud of gone on longer but i think the timing was perfect. i mean ted danson cudnt stand it anymore. i saw him and shelley on a a&e biography thing and he said that at that season the only reason the show was still on was cuz the cast was in the back saying, ill do another season if u do.

I thought the show ended when it should. I really didn't like Diane all that much. Rebecca is my favorite. But Frasier and Lilith are my top favorites on the show. There deliveries mad just about anything they said hilarious.
