Should 'Day One' have been the second episode?

'day one' is the episode where we see will's first day at bel-air academy. he gets in trouble for carving the word 'fresh' in the school desk.

it's listed as episode 14, yet we've already seen the school, and some of the characters prior to that.

this episode would have fit in perfectly after the pilot. why did this introduction take so long? could it be that the production and air date were out of sync?

I also think the introduction to the school should have been shown before other episodes involving school. I'm not sure if it was aired out of sync, but I never heard that any episodes of this show were, really.

the dvd set has the original air dates, which seem to be in chronological order, but not the production dates.

it's strange because uncle phil doesn't have his beard in 'day one'. his appearance resembles the pilot and next two episodes that came after it.

we also see will's inside-out blazer in 'def poets society', an episode that predates 'day one'. the former is also where we learn that bel-air academy shares its after school activities with female students. yet will literally screams in horror after he learns that he's part of an all boy school in 'day one'.

those two episodes should be in reverse order in my opinion.

Yeah a two part would have been good not sure if people would care to see will and his high school life in a two part episode he was supposed to be a minor right in the day one episode 17
