Talking about this subject on another group and thought I'd post here and maybe some want to share positive and negative feelings about their mother.
As I see it and this has been true in my Life. My mother was my First and Last Teacher and Protector. She taught me so much and I'm so grateful for her....she was NOT a great book person but a smart/wise woman. A little too much religion in my early years but she didn't know anything else....It took me years on my own to shrug a lot of that "stuff".. I learned how to cook, sew buttons, do a hem and I know she had a huge caring for her 3 children. On her death bed at 91, she was hanging on as she didn't want to "leave her children"....and I was there with her, and said "mom it's OK to go, and jesus said it's OK too, with those words, she went. Bless her and I think of her so much She would be 113 today if she was still here....if there is a heaven, I know she's there. I believe there are far more GOOD Moms than NOT Good ones...... Mom tried to teach me about some things that I didn't "hear" and now regret NOT listening to her...she knew..... I'm preparing a message to my daughter to this effect, I know her children are her world.....and she is their major teacher and she needs to be reminded of this...... I have a couple gf's who never had a child and they have NO CLUE what it's like being a mother...no way. |

Mom is the one who carried us for months and then birthed us and then fed us, clothes us, raised us, loved us, supported us, etc. . Without Mom, we wouldn't exist.
Dad was a big help in our existence,, and for MANY People a big help in doing a LOT of the same things Mom did for us, but Mom is the one who REALLY ensured we would exist.

Very true Janice, and thanks for your nice tribute to moms....I guess no one else here cares about their mom or just too lazy to comment.
In my life, dad brought home the bacon and mom did the rest, all the rest with her home and 3 children. |

My mom was a hard working, loving person, who treated all of her children with the utmost devotion and care.
There isn't a day that I do not think about her, I miss her tremendously. |

When I was very young, I felt that my mom tended to spend a lot more time on her sewing and flowers than doing things with me.
I later better realized that she was limited because her command of English was poor and also she didn't drive. I miss her a lot, and wish I could've done more prior to her death, to help her as her health declined. |

I just saw this thread or I would have already posted. My mom stayed at home with us for the first few years. Since she had 3 kids she didn't spend much time playing, too many chores to do. But she loved us and made sure we had good meals, clean clothes, toys, etc. She went to work in a factory when me & my brother started school, my youngest sister stayed with our grandmother and that's where we stayed every summer. My mom is still living but she's getting a little forgetful. She taught me to cook and sew when she had time. And she would take us to the movies on Saturdays when she had extra money to spare. My dad would only take us to Drive-In movies and that wasn't very often. I hope she will live another decade or so but she has a few health problems so that might not happen. I try to spend a couple of Sundays a month with her, she lives 35 miles away so it's hard to carve out the time to go there. Her brother lives next door and her son, my brother lives up the hill from her so she isn't all alone. I sure will hate to lose her when that time comes.

I just used a remedy Mom taught me many yrs ago, I have a slight finger infection and remembered soaking the finger in hot as one can stand water, add a little baking soda and this draws out the infection. Do this 2-4 times daily until infection seems to be gone.
Those old folks knew remedies. |

Anyone want to talk about their mom?
Oh and BTW: my finger is healed...it is arthritic but no more infection type issues. |
