Anybody gotten the upgrade? I hated switching to windows 10 and I am hesitating to switch again. Is it different?

I didn't want to switch to Windows 10. My computer kept telling me to update to it. I ignored all the requests. One day my computer told me I needed to update, didn't mention anything about W10. So, I updated and bam it was for W10. It's like they tricked me into it.

Well, I'm still doing good with my Windows 7 Professional Lenovo desktop. Bought it from a company that was closing down and it was pretty new and pricey but I got a good deal and it's been great. I've had to put a little bit of $$ in it and recently a hardware issue and a new monitor and the price was OK for me, I am resisting 10 or 11. My needs are fairly minimal. I get updates from somewhere every couple of weeks and I'm fine. Maybe from Microsoft, I'm so computer unsavey.

My laptop is ineligible for an update to Windows 11, and I’m just fine with that.

I've gotten several prompts to upgrade but I can't decide if I want to or not. Is it free or do you have to pay for it? I've got Windows 10 on my newest desktop computer and that's the one where I get the prompts.

I'm getting prompts on my windows 10 laptop. I'm not switching. When windows 10 came out I switched but didn't like it. After a few months switching became mandatory as it was necessary because the entire computer world was switching. When I switched it was free I don't know if payment was required later. |

If one has the inclination to learn a new system, I believe the time required would be best spent learning how to use Linux.
There are many variants available, and some of them are quite easy now. AND TONS OF AVAILABLE SOFTWARE, for free. |

I'm not positive about this, but as far as I know, Windows 10 will continue being supported until 2025, at which time a change over to Windows 11 might become necessary.
For several years I had Windows Vista on my desktop computer, then Windows 10 came along. Vista continued being supported for awhile but eventually the support discontinued, and as time went along I began having internet problems such as slow internet and unable to access certain sites, so my only choice was to change over to Windows 10 and now everything works fine again. I imagine I will probably have to do the same eventually with Windows 10 and change over to Windows 11 once the 10 version is no longer supported. I don't like it but that's how it is in this modern computer/internet world, it's always changing and evolving. |

Yeah I wasn't thrilled with Windows 10 either but I'm getting used to it. My laptop has Windows 8.1 and I gave my son my old desktop computer that has Vista on it. He can't post to his facebook account on it and I think he has trouble getting on some other sites. I guess they make a ton of money making people upgrade. I'll wait and see how people rate Windows 11 before I switch. |

So far I haven't been offered or forced into it (PC desktop). Always annoying when it happens though.

It is maddening that we are forced to upgrade hardware and software every couple of years. TurboTax wouldn't install on my PC last year because I was on Windows 7. I had to borrow a friend's laptop to do my taxes. Big tech CEOs are laughing all the way to the bank. Bas tards.
