Default Willow

While I was waiting for dinner I happened to find a special treat on Disney+ and I found the movie Willow and it is just as fantastic as it was when it debuted in theaters in 1988 and I think Willow was the film responsible for all the adventure and fantasy movies that are huge today. When I saw Willow it reminded me of a cross between The Lord Of The Rings and Thor and Loki and it was amazing from what I saw so far
Do you remember watching Willow when it came out in 1988?

I remember Willow, but I prefer a fantasy film from a couple of years earlier: Legend.

I saw Willow when it came out in the theaters. There is a sequel series coming to Disney+ with Warwick Davis reprising his role.

Fantasy/sword & sorcery films were huge in the 80s, Willow was one of the last big budget ones released that decade.

But no, Peter Jackson's Lord Of The Rings would have happened whether Willow was released or not, people have been trying to adapt Lord Of The Rings into alive action films going back to when the books were first released in the 1950s.

George Lucas was one of several directors who had been approached at one time or another to take on the task of making the Lord Of The Rings. Lucas has even stated that Tolkien's work was part of his inspiration for Star Wars, and no doubt Willow, which is an idea Lucas had going back to the early 70s, but waited until technology was advanced enough to be able to do all of the special effects.

I love sword & sorcery/fantasy films of the 80s, besides Willow, others I like are -

Ladyhawke
Legend
The Neverending Story
Clash Of The Titans
The Dark Crystal
Labyrinth
Excalibur
Dragonslayer
Highlander
The Princess Bride
The Beastmaster
The Sword And The Sorcerer
Conan The Barbarian
Conan The Destroyer
Red Sonja
The Last Unicorn
Fire And Ice
Krull
Hawk The Slayer
Erik The Viking
Conquest

I believe I saw the Willow series advertised while finding Willow on Disney+ and I think it might be a good series when it debuts depending on how well it will follow the movie. My mother saw me watching Willow and liked it too. Plus I thought Willow himself was adorable and I didn't even know Val Kilmer was in Willow too

Hi, Bestie! I never saw Willow but it sounds interesting. I think I will find and watch it. I like fantasy adventure movies. Thanks for the tip!
