I like to know how many actors/actresses like Dick van Dyke, Hal Linden, Nell Carter, and William Daniels were in Broadway/off-Broadway/off-off-Broadway before they went to television.

All in the Family kept the George Jefferson role open for Sherman Hemsley while he was finishing a run on Broadway.

Irene Ryan went to Broadway after the Beverly Hillbillies.

A bunch of One Day At A Time people had award winning success in the theater, either before or after the series, including Bonnie Franklin, Mary Louise Wilson, and Boyd Gaines.

Judd Hiurch (I thinkI spelled that right), Tony Randall, Jack Klugman, Jean Stapelton

Tony Randall owned a dinner-theater in Florida and him & Jack Klugman (who were really good friends) re-created their roles of Felix and Oscar in a production of THE ODD COUPLE

Carroll O'Connor, Jean Stapleton, Beatrice Arthur and Bill Macy had all been in theater before they debuted on Lear sitcoms.

I always wondered why the show kept referring to George Jefferson for the first several episodes that season before he actually showed up.

I thought he was at Shea Stadium watching the Mets.
