Default Why was Heartland even made as a TV show?

I am a fan of the Heartland book series and have the first two seasons on DVD and I cannot figure out how Heartland was even made in a TV show version? Was it to capture the popularity of the book series or was it a test to see how well it would follow the books? Because when I first saw it the only thing that they made real was the crash scene in the very first Heartland book but when I watched more Heartland episodes I saw how awkward the show was like in the third book Amy's mom's old horse Pegasus is ill and dying but in the show's episode based on the book Pegasus did not die and then once they finished creating episodes following the original Heartland books they started creating storylines that don't fit the books. Like in one episode how can Mrs. Bell be still alive when she is dead in the first Heartland book? And another thing I noticed is that in Season 2 it started to become a horse show version of Newhart with Heartland being turned into a bed and breakfast and less about horses and when Scott and Ty got into a big plane crash in Season 2 and I don't recall a plane crash in any Heartland books. I gave up watching after viewing Season 2 on DVD and I cannot believe why Heartland is still surviving as a TV show and also air reruns on Cozi and while the series showed promise the Heartland book series was better. But another book series that should be made into a TV show is Thoroughbred because that book series is also better than Heartland

Hi, Bestie! I guess it is big in Canada and they are trying to make it big here. Do you know if they are going to try to make a Heartland movie?

Heartland is an awesome TV show, for many seasons anyway until recently. Amber Marshall, Alisha Newton, Michelle Morgan, Graham Wardle, and Shaun Johnston are all wonderful actors as Amy, Georgie, Lou, Ty, and Jack. Plus they have gotten hordes of pretty horses and other animals to look at every week. A little of Tim goes a long way though, what a brat.
