Look at it this way, with the disclaimer, any potential viewers who'd have wound up having gotten upset with said portrayals are given the option to tune out and watch something else.

Well in that case, a disclaimer is needed for just about every show nowadays due to the raunchy, vulgar content.

Works for me! I'd rather know what was in the offing before I start watching than not. It's somewhat like having an ingredient list on a can of soup!

The very act of labelling and contextualizing content is problematic. Who agrees on the definition of offensive when it comes to comedy (parody, cartoons, caricature, art, drama)? Who decides to label it in the first place? Who sets the standards for everyone else? Did we vote on it?

In comedy, cultural stereotypes are inclusion.

I don't mind the disclaimers, and prefer that over cuts to the material.

Good grief, as Charlie Brown used to say. I’m sick of the leftist, progressive, politically correct world in which we live. Total bullcrap.

Bonanza airings on TVLand have a similar disclaimer: This program contains cultural depictions that are outdated. Viewer discretion is advised.

Agree. There are channels (TBS is a good guess, for example) that would just skip the episode.

I would shorten it to remove some of the gobbledygook and just say, Language and portrayals may offend some viewers--discretion is advised.
