Were you/are you a fan of this band? They formed in Los Angeles, CA in 1980. Lead singer Dale Bozzio and drummer Terry Bozzio were protégés of Frank Zappa. With the additions of guitarist Warren Cuccurullo, bassist Patrick O'Hearn and keyboardist Chuck Wild, the band released their Missing Person EP in 1980, which contained a cover of The Doors' "Hello, I Love You", as well as their first single, "Mental Hopscotch". After 2 years of hard work, Capitol Records signed Missing Persons to their label in 1982, and soon after, their first studio album, Spring Session M, was released. It contained the singles "Words", "Windows", "Destination Unknown" and "Walking in L.A.". Dale's colorful outfits and quirky voice, as well as Terry's mad drumming skills, made the band a favorite on MTV. The visual effects for their music videos, namely "Words", was innovative for its time.
In 1984, Missing Persons experimented with a new sound and released Rhyme & Reason, which proved to be a commercial and critical failure, despite "Give" reaching the Billboard charts. In 1986, their third album, Color in Your Life, was released. Again, this album was met with disappointment, although "I Can't Think About Dancin'" received some recognition. After the band finished their tour in support of Color in Your Life, Dale and Terry Bozzio divorced, and the band split up. Missing Person reunited in 2001 and played select performances, but Terry Bozzio, bothered by the unresolved issues with Dale, permanently left the band shortly afterwards. Missing Persons disbanded a second time in 2003. They would reunite again in 2009 and 2011, and have been together since. The band has released two more albums, Missing in Action (2014) and Dreaming (2020), since reforming, and still tour to this day.
