I was watching "The Prom" episode this morning on TBS and the Jessie character said something about Janet Jackson which I beg to difer. She said Janet doesn't have anything to say in her music.
Well if you listen to the two albums she released when this episode was made (not counting the first two records she made during the Diff'rent Strokes and Fame era) "Conrtol" and "Rhytum Nation 1814" you will hear that alot of the songs have important messages. Rhytum Nation speaks more to a social conduct oppose to Control which is about everyday stuff. If you listen to songs like "Rhytum Nation", "State of the World","Livin' in the World (They didn't make)" you will cleary hear songs with a serious message. And most of the music by the Jackson 5 were did not have any serious messages. I admit two of the three records she made since this episode was made "Janet" and "All for You" do not contain much of a social message. Though I know this is a board about TV shows not music. But Janet was on three sitcoms "Good Times", "Diff'rent Strokes", and "Fame". But the main point the writers (probably one of those ex hippies who believe every song made after Woodstock sucks) critize Janet for something that is false. |

I think the writters of "The Prom" just wrote that in to emphasize how feminist Jessie really is.
Jessie didn't agree with Janet's and Paula's sex appeal. |

Well Janet did not have a sexual image until after this episode was shot when her "Love will never do without you" was released. That is the thing that gets me. I am really to exept that the general public think people like Prince and Madonna who clearly has important messages in alot of their songs as sexual artists, they broght it on themselfs. But back then Janet did not have a sexual image yet. Actully if someone said that about Janet today with the "All for you" album I would not be upset.
But not during the "Rhytum Nation" period. She went all over MTV letting the world know her record had an important meaning. I just don't like people badmounthing other people over things that are not true. Don't mess with little Penny. |

Although she wasn't vulgarly sexual (yet), she did have sex appeal.
Have you seen the videos for: "What Have You Done For Me Lately," "Black Cat," "Escapade," and "Pleasure Principle"? ![]() The character "Jessie" didn't really call that music.

I don't think Janet is Lark's aunt, if she was then which Jackson is her parent? I think if this was true then we would have heard of it sooner.

Danielle, I went on Rebbie's website and the only kids she has is Stacee, Yashi and Austin. I just wanted to let you know so it wouldn't bother you too much.
