Woman Fatally Stabbed at Bridgewater Rest Area

(Bridgewater-AP) -- A Rhode Island woman is stabbed to death after stopping to use the bathroom at a highway service area in Massachusetts. Charged with murder is a registered sex offender who worked at a Burger King in the rest stop.

It was around 4 a-m when an off-duty state trooper heard a scuffle in the ladies room of the service area off Route 24 in Bridgewater. The officer went to investigate, and said he found the woman bleeding on the floor, and a man standing over her with a knife.

Thirty-year-old Alexandra Zapp of Newport was pronounced dead at a local hospital. A prosecutor says Zapp struggled with her attacker, who police have identified as Paul Leahy of East Bridgewater.

Leahy was arraigned this afternoon in Brockton District Court and ordered held without bail.

Leahy was released from a Massachusetts prison in 1998 after serving 13 years of a rape sentence. He's listed on the state's registry of sex offenders.

In a statement, Miami-based Burger King called the crime "heinous" and said it was cooperating with investigators.

I hadnt heard about that. That's crazy. I saw a thing where when little boy went to the bathroom, there were guys waiting inside to, uh, yeah. Even though Im not a boy, I was scared to go to the bathroom for weeks. This sure helps!

What's up with all the violence, terrorists, kidnappers, molesters, and killers? What is this world coming to??? I wish it was the 60's... PEACE! Now nobody really even cares basically.

Ditto- I think all the peace flew out the window a long time ago. I wish the "Make Love, Not War" quote would remind some people not to go out and kill each other. Give peace a chance. *Insert peace sign*

but...wait, caitlin, what are you doing on-line? i thought there were no computers at your summer house. I keep thinking of the book Summer Sisters by Judy Blume when I hear "my summer house..."

That is true but it is also a sign for Christians. It won't be that much longer until Christ is here again. Christ is coming and he'll have the ultimate say in this. Just my thoughts.
