Probably one of the best Christmas episodes is unique. It's called "The Angel's Sweater", a season 3 Father Knows Best episode. The story has an old handyman telling Kathy the story of a little girl in the olden days, who gives an angel a sweater to keep warm. The angel appreciated the thought and told the girl she would find the true meaning of Christmas.

Although the handyman thinks he failed with his story, Kathy took the cue and related it to her present-day problem. Penned by head writer Roswell Rogers, it originally aired on 12/19/1956.

Just located the complete episode, not the abbreviated version shown on TV every year:

Buffy the Vampire Slayer - "Amends". That whole third season was amazing, and they even managed to pull off a Christmas special.

The Facts of Life - "The Christmas Show". I wish it had been a year or four earlier, at Eastland, but it's such a homey episode. The tree! The gifts!

Wawwie mentioning Little House on the Prairie - "Christmas At Plum Creek" reminds me how good that episode was; I also really like "A Christmas They Never Forgot", which nicely bookends the series, and is the last time we see the original Ingalls family together, albeit with the fake Ingalls kids tagging along, unwelcome.

I will be the third vote for the Little House episode, "Christmas at Plum Creek." Such a lovely episode, with Laura's gift for Ma, her regret for what Pa made for her(which coincides with what she sacrificed for Ma's present). And even Carrie is sweet in this one. "Happy Birthday, Baby Jesus!"

Mama's Family : "Santa Mama", where Thelma has to step in for Vint when he develops laryngitis before his Santa job. Mama really does an attitude turnaround in this one.

Newhart: "No room at the Inn." Just funny all around. Love Kirk's insistence to being with Leslie for the holiday, and bringing over his knick-knacks for the tree. "Ok, who wants to be the first to... hang a crab?"

Gimme a Break: "A Kazinsky Christmas." I like Nell Carter because her character is kind of like Thelma Harper from Mama's Family, and here she uses her fiery attitude to great effect, even if I thought it was a bit harsh when she was ripping down the kid's stockings and slamming them on the floor. But it was hilarious!

The Andy Griffith Show: "Christmas Story." If you don't get a tear coming to your eye when mean old Ben Weaver is watching the others through the jailhouse window and starts to sing "Away in a Manger" with them, then there's something wrong with you. No, but it is a really nice episode. I like how Andy works it out for Ben to save face and how Ben acts like he doesn't know how those children's gift's got in his bag.

Those are just a few of my favorites. But I generally love most Christmas episodes of most shows.

"Santa Mama" is a good one, and better than the 2nd on about the goose. Also nice is the cast singing "We wish you a Merry Christmas" over the closing credits.

I hated those fake Ingalls kids, Albert, Kassandra and James... especially Albert. I really, really hated that annoying, brat, twerp, especially when he burned down the blind school that killed Alice Garvey and Mary's baby. I really hated how in the next episode, him and Andy are still best friends like somehow killing your best friend's mom is okay. Albert just ruins everything like how he ruined that Christmas episode. I think Hester Sue was in that episode. I wonder if she was a real person or a fake like Adam, Albert, James and Kassandra.

Yeah, I love that! You can hear Allan Kayser going just a tad off-key on the last, "...and a happy New Year."
What is even better is you can hear them all say something like, "Merry Christmas everybody!" after the song.

I liked the Happy Days episode when Fonzie (before the Fonzie character became a superstar) pretended to be on his way to a big family gathering in Waukesha when he was really going to be alone for Christmas and Richie found a way to invite him to the Cunningham house without damaging his pride.

Supernatural - A Very Supernatural Christmas. Sam decorates a scrawny tree with those car air fresheners and they exchange gifts they buy from a gas station.
