Thumbs down Rose Marie's voice....YUK!

OMG! I just read where someone on this message board actually wants a copy of Rose Marie singing on a cd!! That has got to be the worst female voice I have ever heard in my life! I'm sure she was a very nice lady but her voice is like nails on a chalk board....MY LORD! The person who loves her singing might want to see their Doctor and have their hearing checked!

I think this would be a matter of opinion. I never thought Rose Marie's voice was wonderful, but I didn't think it was awful either. Some of her songs I fast forward because I think they are boring, but others I love. I don't really think it's her voice that I love or hate, but the actual song. I do wish her voice wasn't as raspy though, but that was probably because of her smoking.

Geez, what is with you and making fun of people? First Millie's walk now Rose Marie's voice. Where's your record deal, sweetie? I know you're allowed to have your opinion but there's a difference between stating an opinion and being insulting.

I personally thought she was a good singer. Not great or anything, but good. I really liked "Santa Send a Fella" from the Christmas show. (BTW, does anyone have that song as an mp3? I used to, from Napster, but I lost it.)

Wasn't Rose Marie a child singer in the days of vaudeville?

Cool

It was Rose Marie's voice that first got her into show business. She was discovered as a young child and was promoted as the little kid with the grown up voice.

You are correct. In fact, many believe that if she had been born a few years later, she would have put Shirley Temple out of business. Unfortunately, by the time sound pictures were catching on, she was starting to grow up. There are a couple early, early sound flicks she did that I would love to see. I've heard she was quite phenominal in them.

However, I have to agree to some extent with that other poster about the later Rose Marie. I liked her as a personality on Hollywood Squares, but I never liked her on THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW. For that matter, I didn't like Morey Amsterdam's character, either. He would constantly make those utterly annoying quips to which Sally would always (very annoyingly) respond with an exasperated "Oh Buddy!" or "Knock it off!" or something like that. Euyuck! I hate that! I think Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore had great chemistry on the show, and I loved the scenes between them at home. But I hated the scenes at the office with Buddy, Sally and Mel. They were never funny.

Well I for like Rose Marie's speaking voice, I always thought it sounded cool. And as for her singing, like the others, I don't know if I would necessarily want a CD of it, but I never minded it. I think it was quite good actually even though some of the songs were a bit schmultzy. But I always loved 'Santa Send a Fella' too Kristen , along with that one she sings in "The Sleeping Brother II". And I love the office scenes too, probably not as much as the home scenes because the chemistry between Dick and Mary really was phenomenal, but nonehtless, hurray for Buddy and Sally!!!

This is a new one to me! I didnt think there could be ANYone who wouldnt like the scene's between Buddy and Mel...they were the spice of the entire show! But, such is life and viva la differance. I think the laughter, the jokes, the comeraderie between ALL of the characters are what made this show "da bomb"! As for RoseMarie, I've always loved her. When she was hurting so desperately from losing her beloved husband, she came back to this show and worked like the trouper she was and made me laugh. I thought her "throaty" voice was sexy for a woman. "Gutsy" and "raw". There was as song she sang when she and Buddy were "moonlighting" that I liked very much. So its sort of weird to hear that there is someone who can actually dislike anything about this show, especially since I've loved every single aspect of it...even Jerry Paris (whom I had a crush on for years lol) leaving the spotlight to work behind the camera.

Red face

I never heard Rose Marie sing but, her voice bothered me too on the show. So did Morey Amsterdams voice.

I still watched the show though.........
