Question gross or not

OK..believe it or not this is a major debate in my hometown. To me both of these actions are gross -what do you think.. Both of these events took place in two seperate restaurants .

An employee who works at a fast food resturant stops by on her day off to chit chat with her co-workers. She brings along her newborn. The baby starts to cry and does its bit in her diaper. Something all babies do of course.

But instead of taking the baby to the bathroom, the young mother decides to change the baby's diaper right there on the counter in full view of all the customers. She even left the baby naked and crying on the counter beside the cash register ( there were people standing in line to order their food ) while the mother walked over to the trash can several feet away to get rid of the dirty diaper.

With a Marlboro Light cigarette dangling from her mouth, kept yelling at the child to shut up and leaving behind some rather gross stuff on the counter.

One of the customers had enough. She walked over to the young woman saying her actions were disgusting and that she should've had the common decency to change her baby's diaper at least in the bathroom. Not in full view of others who were eating their lunch.

The young mother responded by cussing out the woman and everyone else in the restaurant. Saying that she had the right to change her baby's diaper anytime and anyplace and if they object well..too damn bad ( she didnt quite say it that way..add a few "F" words there ).

Oh the young mother didnt get fired over this-the manager says that its too hard to find workers for fast food now-a-days but my hometown is serious about putting a law together that will ban mothers from changing their baby's diaper in restaurants unless it is done in the bathroom. This has caused some debate between mothers who feel its their right to change anywhere they please and those who dont want to see "poop" while they eat.

what do you think?

now here is another one...an employee at another fast food restaurant finds a stray kitten in the parking lot. Takes it in the restaurant- everyone thinks the cat is so cute they decide to keep him at the restaurant. Another employee even went as far as went to the Family Dollar ( inside the same shopping center )
bought kitty litter and pan and kept it right in the corner behind the counter but still in view of customers. They even allowed the cat to jump on the counter at times. Well like the "dirty diaper" thing someone complains saying that cats have no business being in restaurants. One of the employees actually said in the paper that if they must allow dogs for the blind then what is the big deal with a cat?

I have to side with the man who complained. I like cats but I rather not see one do its business while I am eating or deciding what to get for lunch. But then again its no worse then seeing and smelling people smoke their Marlboros while one eats.

Both of those incidents are gross and disturbing. Especially the first one.

The first one was disgusting and the baby should be takin from the mother if she carries it and smokes at the same time i know babies cant talk but i dont think the babies like to breath the smoke in anyway

The second wasn't to bad or really bad at all but still shouldn't of had acses to the counter or anywhere food is delt with i know all fast foon places have offices it could have been in there...

p.s. thanx for this topic it's something good to talk about!!!!!!!!!!!

Those are both really gross and wrong.. ya sure it's just a little harmless cat but if it's walking on the counter then it's hairs are falling on it. People's food is placed on those counters so no that is wrong. And the baby diaper things is very messed up.. it's common sense you don't let s'hit get on the same place where peoples food goes.. that's discusting!!! I'd never eat at either of those places.

I can't believe that some mothers feel that it is their right to change a baby where ever they want. OK, now the breast-feeding-in-public argument I can see a little bit more, but I think that it is perfectly reasonable for the public to expect and, if need be enforce, that mothers only change babies in the restroom.

The cat one doesn't gross me out near as much, but I agree that the animal should not be kept in view of the customers and it especially should not have access to any areas where food is consumed or prepared. The allowing seeing eye dogs in argument is baseless, because seeing eye dogs sit there nice and quietly, they don't go walking about on the countertops.

As far as the woman changing the diaper she sounds like a real idiot and has no business having kids in my opinion. As far as the cat goes, I feel the only animals that should even be allowed in restaurants are seeing eye dogs. The cat should be kept out of sight in a back room somewhere.

OK, I definitely think the first one is more disgusting, but the second one is pretty bad too. Not just because of the disgusting-ness (sp? lol) of it, but because I know that there were probably people in the resteraunt who were allergic to the cat. I am very allergic to them, and I can only imagine what would happen if I actually swallowed a cat hair!

I think both are kind of gross. That first one though is a bit ridicolous. I thought it was all in common sense to take a baby into a bathroom to change his/her diaper? I think that woman must've been lacking in the sense department.

Reminds me of an episode of FOL.

And IMO, I think they're both rather disturbing...Especially changing a baby's diaper on a counter with customers watchging. If I were them, I'll porbably boycott the place, lol.... That's like dancing naked on the streets! (Kinda..)
