A dieting article gave this advice.
"Movie popcorn at the actual movie theaters is loaded with a lot of fat, sodium, cholesterol, and carbs. And that's before the butter and extra salt that is available near the concessions ! It becomes even worse with the butter and extra salt! If you REALLY want to have movie popcorn at the actual movie theaters, and still be relatively healthy, get the small with no butter or extra salt and split it with a Friend." I find this advice unrealistic. I don't know two people who will split a small popcorn with no butter or salt at the movie theater. The small is JUST enough for one person who REALLY isn't all that hungry. I can't see two people sharing a small. If they said,"Medium popcorn", I'd see their point. |

Yummmm,...melted butter!!
Personally, I think if one is forced to give up the things they enjoy, in order to live longer, they are just prolonging their suffering. A life lived only with low fat cheese, with turkey instead of red meat, with no salt, no butter, that ain't living. Giving all that up just to live to age 85 seems kinda pointless. YMMV |

Not smart and what some do is starve their bodies and continue to keep weight on since their body goes into a "hold on to my fat mode" as it does not want to be starved. I have a neighbor that does this, forever fasting and heavier than ever. Eat small portions of good foods and drink WATER. And cut out or REDUCE a lot of White Stuff.

Kevin Trudeau gave unrealistic dieting tips.... Such as "Eat a maximum of 500 calories day if you want to lose weight."
![]() On a "Kevin Trudeau exposed!" YouTube video by Pablito's Way, a Poster wrote something like," When Kevin was still popular in both the book world and the dieting world, my coworkers would eat an apple(about 85 calories), some crackers with peanut butter in it(about190 calories), a one single string cheese (about 81 calories)at lunch, lower calorie chips(about 100 calories) for about 456 calories and that's ALL they ate for the entire day all because of Kevin Trudeau, a man who ended up being exposed as a Fraud and a Conman! I would laugh at their gullibility!

ACTUALLY, I went to Google, and according to Google, the Small popcorn at movie theaters is about 6 cups of popcorn. A microwave bag of popcorn is about 5 cups of popcorn. So, splitting the small popcorn at movie theaters is roughly the equivalent of a microwave bag of popcorn. Not at all that unrealistic. Two people can easily share a bag of microwave popcorn. The Kevin Trudeau low calorie stuff is still unrealistic however.

The biggest cause of obesity, IMO, is "recreational" eating.
You're bored, so you head to the refrigerator. When you shop for groceries you buy things to treat your tongue to a reward. Even when you get together with old friends and family,. you go out to a restaurant, or have a big feast at home in celebration. Fat is a mindset that is enjoyable to embrace. If we treated our stomachs like the gas tank of our cars, we'd have far less of a problem. The funny paradox is, as we grow fat, there are fewer activities for us to participate in as an alternative to recreational eating. So, instead of going parasailing, we sit at home and eat hagen daz and watch other people parasail on tv. |

Fat people also have a good deal in common with drunks and drug addicts imo.
Most addicts, when they start talking about wanting to be "clean", really don't want that at all. What they want is to stop suffering the consequences of their bad habit. But the habit itself is still a source of pleasure. They want to stop the angry bosses, the hurt relatives, the blown paychecks, the legal troubles...but the drug itself is their one reward in life, so they persist. I think that many fat people have a similar relationship with food. They hate the consequences, but love the cause. |

Gotta change your mind, learn to Like stuff and not Love stuff. I have found that those who use Love a lot also use Hate a lot. Extremes...

A drunk might claim "at least I'm not as bad as them dopers", or a marijuana user might claim "at least I'm not shooting up heroin". That's just a ploy to try and make their own excesses more forgiveable. When anyone is unhappy with their weight to the extent that dieting is not working, then they have a compulsive disorder...just like the druggies. Their "poison" is just more acceptable to them. Would I rather date a druggie with a 38-24-36 figure, or a 300 lb behemoth who's entire wardrobe consists of mu-mus? Tough call...lol! |

Come on. Loving Kit Kats is WAY better than loving drugs, alcohol, and cigarettes!

Personally, if I used the word love re: Kit Kats, I'm certain I would choose them over drugs, cigs and alcohol...but I don't use love in food terms. Love my daughter and grandkids. Oh then I really love spaghetti and meatballs.
