Paul Lynde & Peter Marshall's new book - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

A friend of mine just got Peter Marshall's new book. Of course he talks about the many of stars who appeared on HS , however he did bring up an interesting story about Paul Lynde.

My friend claims that in the book Paul Lynde fell in love with Karen Valentine and was very heart broken when he found out that she wanted the two of them to be just friends. Very interesting !!!

Wasnt Paul Lynde gay? Though there have been shows about him that appeared on both E! and A&E that said he was and they both brought up his gay related death, over the years I have heard otherwise. I remember hearing a long time ago that he was dating Rose Marie.

To me it seems so odd that a gay man would be heartbroken over the fact that a woman isnt interested, unless of course Lynde was bi-sexual, like Jackie Susann ( Valley of the Dolls )-married for years to Irving Mansfield yet she also loved women.
The book "Celebrity Feuds" by Boze Hadleigh discussed that area.

But now that I remember............ I have had Gay men hit on me... They wanted me to be with them, married and stuff. I think it could've maybe been a ruse like that. So they could have a wife and secretly have their Gay life.

Something like what happened to Rock Hudson. He got married just to make it look like he was straight.
