In classic sitcoms it seems that Nanny And The Professor is the most overrated as a sitcom and it is a mystery. Is it because it wasn't very popular when it first came out and not many people know about it? Because aside from GetTV airing it for a short time Nanny And The Professor should be airing on more retro channels such as FETV and Decades. My mom had never heard of this sitcom and didn't know it existed

I think you've mixed up underrated and overrated.
I think the show was somewhat seen as a copy of all the supernatural shows of the 60s, especially Bewitched and Jeannie. It also came at the very end of those sorts of shows. What came next were shows about adults in big cities, and Nanny didn't fit well with those. |

Overrated or underrated, it's pretty much forgotten.

Not enough episodes to show long term.

I wish a recording of the Dodie from My Three Sons/Dawn Lyn version of the pilot survived.

We used to watch this show back in it's original run from 1969-1971. It's a good family show and the acting is good. But as someone mentioned, there weren't enough episodes filmed to get it into the rerun rotation. I've read that networks like a series to have at least 90 episodes in order to show as reruns on a regular basis.

I wouldn't mind an in-character thing for the web - an in-character bit with Nanny and Prudence today in 2023 giving the show the closure it did not get to have. |
