Default Tournament Round Two: The Facts of Life vs. The Munsters

The Facts of Life might be the most popular sitcom board here, it gets a ton of activity. This spin-off of Diff'rent Strokes aired 9 seasons on NBC from 1979-1988. Charlote Rae who played the Drummonds' housekeeper Mrs. Garrett became more of a mother to the girls at Eastland's boarding school than their actual parents. Season 1 had John Lawlor as a regular playing headmaster Mr. Bradley. That season had 7 girls: Blair Warner (Lisa Whelchel), Sue Ann Weaver (Julie Piekarski), Cindy Webster (Julie Anne Haddock), Tootie Ramsey (Kim Fields), Natalie Green (Mindy Cohn), Nancy Olson (Felice Schachter), and Molly Parker (future movie star Molly Ringwald). NBC thought the FOL cast was too large and retooled it going into season 2. Sue Ann, Cindy, Nancy, and Molly became famously known as the lost girls. Only Blair, Tootie, and Natalie remained. They were also on the whole series. New girl Jo Polniaczek was added, played by Nancy McKeon. That quartet of girls who shared a room and Mrs. Garrett clicked with NBC. There would not be any more major cast changes until season 8 when Charlotte Rae was done. Cloris Leachman was her replacement Beverly Ann Stickle, who did not add to the show like Mrs. Garrett had. The end of season 4 had Blair and Jo graduate from Eastland. Seasons 5 and 6 were the Edna's Edibles years. That nice setting was replaced by a tacky Over Our Heads store in season 7. Before George Clooney became famous, he started here.

1st Round: defeated The Courtship of Eddie's Father 17-11

This spooky family's TV show aired at the same time period as The Addams Family, two seasons from 1964-1966 on CBS. Fred Gwynne stars as giant Herman Munster, with Yvonne De Carlo as his wife Lily. Al Lewis was Grandpa, Butch Patrick was Eddie, and Marilyn was their normal looking niece who they thought was an ugly duckling. Beverly Owen first played Marilyn, then Pat Priest. Spot was their pet dragon.

What is wrong with The Facts of Life enough for a defeat by a short-running show? Is the poll malfunctioning? If not, this whole tournament of yours is pointless, CatsRule. Fans of The Facts of Life don't need to be spited like this.

Why do you hate short lived shows so much? There is nothing wrong with The Munsters, one of the best ever shows ever made. The poll is not malfunctioning, The Munsters clearly has a strong fanbase. A vote for The Munsters does not mean an attempt to spite the Facts of Life fans.

If you see this poll's results right now, they suggest that The Munsters may have a bigger fanbase than The Facts of Life. IMHO, I wish The Facts of Life would just get a bye to the final round just to avoid defeat by a short-runner (even if said short-runner could've had a better run than in real life).

Not only does The Munsters defeat The Facts of Life, it does so by an impressive nine vote margin- 16-7 advancing to the 3rd round.

I WANT A UNIVERSAL LONG-RUNNING SITCOMS TOURNAMENT NEXT TIME!

The Facts of Life doesn't deserve a loss to any short-runners, period. All the TFoL diehard fans who actually voted for The Munsters have really turned against TFoL, and therefore, have officially ruined this tournament. I think that margin suggests that TFoL's fans are too lazy to vote in this tournament, and therefore must not care about it. Sad.

*"Long-runners", in this case, means if you have less than four seasons, you do not qualify.

I couldn’t quite make out that first sentence. What’s that say?

Anyways, you should start one. Don’t forget One Day At a Time, nine seasons.

In the spirit of supporting The Facts of Life, James is merely using the same font size as Jo did in her headline story in The Eastlander: "Teacher Busted in Cocaine Raid!!!"

And James, if you do, please make the poll results public.
