Tournament Round Two: Boy Meets World vs. The Patty Duke Show

Boy Meets World was a staple of ABC's TGIF lineup for 7 seasons from 1993-2000. Starring Ben Savage as Cory Matthews and Rider Strong as his best friend Shawn Hunter. Also starring William Daniels as his teacher and principal Mr. Feeny who lived next door, Will Friedle as Cory's older brother Eric, William Russ and Betsy Randle as their parents Alan and Amy, Lily Nicksay and Lindsay Ridgeway as younger sister Morgan, and Danielle Fishel as Cory's girlfriend and eventual wife Topanga Lawrence. In season 1 Lee Norris played genius Stuart Minkus. But he was not seen again until high school graduation. Seasons 2-4 Anthony Tyler Quinn played teacher Mr. Turner who became Shawn's guardian. He was sadly not kept on the show, supposedly because they did not want one teacher staying around permanently. Yet Mr. Feeny never left, following them to college. In later seasons Matthew Lawrence played Shawn's long lost brother Jack Newman.

The Patty Duke Show aired 3 seasons on ABC from 1963-1966. Identical twins are common. Identical cousins, not so much. Patty Duke did great in a dual role playing Patty and Cathy Lane. Cathy's father was constantly traveling, so he sent her to live with Patty's family. Patty's parents were Martin (William Schallert) and Natalie (Jean Byron). Her younger brother Ross was played by Paul O'Keefe.
