Why is it so hard to find good Christmas candy these days - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Every year I used to look forward to eating candy during the holidays and now it seems that the good and traditional Christmas candy is gone now and I wonder what has happened? Because you used to see old fashioned hard candies in green and pink that tasted like licorice and the wonderful Applets and Cotlets candies. But if you look at Christmas candy all you'll find is chocolate and peppermint candy and candy canes and the cans of hard candies are now extinct as dinosaurs. My mom used to love the chocolate covered cherries but even they have lost their flavor and been replaced with chocolate oranges. Do you think that traditional Christmas candy should make a comeback? I think so

Don't know, I don't look for candy at this point in my life, did plenty of damage with it for decades. Could be many have reduced sugars as I have and the diabetes issues are skyrocketing.

I've seen the Applets at CVS some time ago but didn't buy any. Ate my share of them over the years.

We have a couple candy stores here in the valley. They sell the new and old hard to find candies. They even sell insect candy (crickets and worms).

I think the real reason why good Christmas candy disappeared and became scarce is because the chocolate candies started becoming popular and the traditional holiday candy died out. Take for instance there's commercials for Lindt Truffles and Ferro Rocher candies and Andes mints are popular too. I remember when Brach's had the Gloria Mix of hard candy and it was good. But about the only candy that hasn't changed is candy canes and now they have become colorful and have different flavors now

And I believe overall people have stopped eating candies like WE did for many years, too much diabetes out there.

I love christmas candy cane cookies!!

And General christmas cookies (With those sprinkles on them (White with different coloured sprinkles))

Thats about the only GOOD candy left in my opinion for Christmas!
