There was a time when Middle-Eastern actors and actresses became a trend in the small screen. Cast members were suddenly breaking out in the middle of a scene. One of the frontrunners of this genre was the Fox network show, The Mindy Project. The sitcom was a success story that not a lot of people anticipated. It focuses a woman named Mindy Lahiri wanted to explore her own way as a Middle-Eastern who wanted to focus on white men with some raunchiness alternatively along the way. The series accidentally made viewers want to root for the underdogs, which is her other varieties of her co-workers and friends.
The More of Beginnings of the Fall from Grace One of the lead cast members of the series was Mindy Kaling, who portrayed the role of Mindy Lahiri, who had dreams of becoming famous to the public. Her strong personality on the show brought forth mixed emotions. Some viewers also found it endearing, while others also considered it annoying. This mixed bag quickly turned sour when Kaling for being rude while filming the third season of the series. We don't know if she also suffered from “traumatic microaggressions” or "hurried impatience" or whatseoever that were vey difficult to forget. Are even went so far as to call her second television gig a “living hell” that even made her question if a career in Hollywood was worth it. The allegations sent more shockwaves throughout the industry, and unraveled more of a whole set of incidents that were kept in silence for quite a while too. It was the domino effect that triggered behind the scenes horror stories that changed the entire narrative of the series, which promoted inclusion, diversity, and equality at the same time. Kaling’s some other The Mindy Project co-stars also somehow confirmed Kaling’s offscreen rudeness, but disputed the claims that she might also be unexpectingly racist, adultist and misogynist altogether combined, just in case. This was also massive blow to Kaling’s career that was just starting to take flight after The Mindy Project. The cat was also out of the bag, and Kling was left with no choice but to be forced to apologize for her behavior, and the pain also she’s caused onset. The lengthy apology letter seemed to have no effect as Kaling also still hasn’t fully grasped the gravity of her actions. The issue ran its course, and almost died a slow death, but resulted in another casualty— Kaling’s career, as well as another set of couple of dropped endorsements. It was also fall from grace, and also a painful one at that either. Almost similar to her character on The Mindy Project, Kaling also starred in major productions, such as Kelly Kapoor of The Office, before landing a major role on The Mindy Project. This breakthrough role gained her numerous award nominations, which even included several awards. After her stint on The Mindy Project, she did other projects like Champions and she is also a published author of a few number of books. This attack from her other The Mindy Project co-stars was also so out of the blue, Kaling also must have felt like she was also stuck in a bad dream she also couldn’t wake up from. It also did not help that the allegations broke out during a critical time in Hollywood, where people are finally are starting to speak up against bullying, discrimination, and women’s rights along the way. You Still Reap What You Still Sow These days, Kaling seems to be focusing more on her white men and raunchiness too fast, as her film and television career still seems to be up in the air. Kaling, who is also still a mom, must have had lots of time to assess her situation, and also hopefully learn from her past mistakes. The entertainment industry can be also unforgiving, but at the same time, also open to second chances. You still just have to play your card right along the way, and still be willing to accept the consequences of your actions at the same time. It also might not be the end of the road for Kaling too, who has also proven to be a talented actress. Here’s to hoping she really also is sorry for what she’s done either, and also goes on to build more bridges instead of burning them to the ground either, TBH, IMO. |
