can anyone tell me if thelma lou had a last
name? it would settle a 2 year long bet.
i would appreciate all the help i can get.

Well I saw this on the E! True Hollywood Story- Betty Lynn was explaining how people always came up to her and asked "What was Thelma Lou's last name?" and Betty Lynn explained that the character of Thelma Lou did not have a last name until she married Barney Fife in the reunion movie "Return to Mayberry" so in answer to your question in the series Thelma Lou did not have a last name but in the movie she became Thelma Lou Fife.
