Around 15 or 20 years ago, TV Land started a trend where syndication rerun episodes are shown in the order they were shown on the original network.
Generally this is not the order TV shows were produced in--many times, the networks shuffle the episode order. This also happened when Leave it to Beaver originally aired. Starting after the Halloween stunt, MeTV started showing Beaver in production number order--unknown why. Just an FYI. |

I noticed that too yesterday, when MeTV aired "Stocks & Bonds" before "Long Distance Call" even though LDC was originally aired a week earlier. Then this morning MeTV kicked off Season 6 reruns w/ "Wally's License", #1 produced in Season 6. Airing them in production order will at least put the rerun of "The Clothing Drive" early when I think it fits better instead of between "Beaver Sees America" and "Family Scrapbook" near the end of the series.

I usually just have it on and do other stuff during the long break in the middle.
Once in awhile I'll put the DVD episode on during the same time. Nice to see the full episode. |

In this cycle it appears they skipped the Long Distance Call episode, where the boys call Don Drysdale in L. A.
Of course I wonder why they skipped it. |

Oh, this makes sense--the guests on "Beaver" are Ryan O'Neal and Don Drysdale.

Just noticed on the MeTV schedule it appears they will be showing season 6 in production order, rather than that the more-normal network airing order. So here are the episodes; beyond Feb. 24 I figured out how they should run by production number:
Thursday, Feb. 12 - S6Ep3 Wally's License, S6Ep16 Wally Buys a Car Friday, Feb. 13 - S6Ep1 Wally's Dinner Date, S6Ep38 The Clothing Drive Sunday, Feb. 15 S6Ep13 Beaver's Autobiography, S6Ep4 The Late Edition Monday, Feb. 16 S6Ep6 Eddie, the Businessman, S6Ep2 Beaver's Football Award Tuesday, Feb. 17 S6Ep5 Double Date, S6Ep9 Beaver Joins a Record Club Wednesday, Feb. 18 S6Ep7 Tell It to Ella, S6Ep8 Bachelor at Large Thursday, Feb. 19 S6 S6Ep11 Beaver, the Sheep Dog, S6Ep10 Wally's Car Accident Friday, Feb. 20 S6Ep12 Beaver, the Hero, S6Ep14 The Party Spoiler Sunday, Feb. 22 S6Ep15 The Mustache, S6Ep17 The Parking Attendants Monday, Feb. 23 S6Ep18 More Blessed to Give, S6Ep19 Beaver's Good Deed Tuesday, Feb. 24 S6Ep20 The Credit Card, S6Ep26 Uncle Billy's Visit Wednesday, Feb 25 S6Ep22 Beaver on TV, S6Ep23 Box Office Attraction Thursday, Feb. 26 S6Ep21 Beaver the Caddy, S6Ep24 Lumpy's Scholarship Friday, Feb. 27 S6Ep25 The Silent Treatment, S6Ep29 Eddie's Sweater Sunday, Mar. 1 S6Ep27 Beaver's Prep School, S6Ep28 Wally and the Fraternity Monday, Mar. 2 S6Ep30 The Book Report, S6Ep31 The Poor Loser Tuesday, Mar. 3 S6Ep33 Summer in Alaska, S6Ep32 Don Juan Beaver Wednesday, Mar. 4 S6Ep34 Beaver's Graduation, S6Ep35 Wally's Practical Joke Thursday, Mar. 5 S6Ep36 The All-Night Party, S6Ep37 Beaver Sees America Friday, Mar. 6 S6Ep39 Family Scrapbook |

Very interesting, stevea.
I was about 9 years old in 1968, when WAJA-TV 23 Miami (now Univision WLTV) ran Beaver. And boy did they NOT take care of the film reels…..scratches, dots, splices missing dialog, you name it. But I didn’t know any better. (I remember even a filmed COMMERCIAL with the errors!) The one season 2 ep where Wally starts to shave was particularly bad with it, but no splicing as I recall. On WAJA I remember “Captain Jack” always being first. In fact I seem to recall it took a while for them to get ANY Season 1 eps originally. Also I don’t think they ever ran “Family Scrapbook”—“Beaver Sees America” would have been last. I wonder how many of the 234 WAJA really had. cd |

In general old TV syndication showed episodes in production order. That occasionally caused silly stuff--like with I Love Lucy, the episode with Harpo Marx was filmed before the episode with Van Johnson. Carolyn Appleby arrived for the Van Johnson and left after Harpo Marx. Showing them in production order, she left before she arrived. Would any station reverse the order, knowing that? Of course not.
Even now, a local channel that shows Andy Griffith has the same oddity. In season 6, the Taylors go to Hollywood. They show an episode with Aunt Bee showing her prizes from being on a game show during that trip, and in production order, they hadn't even left Mayberry yet. |

I always wondered why episode #1 Captain Jack is never shown first in syndication order. I do know it wasn't aired first because of the toilet-controversy! Crazy and funny. Years ago when the show first began syndication on a local CBS channel they started with the Beaver sells water episode.

I thought I was the only person who noticed these out of order things! Yes, the Lucy Groucho/Carolyn Appleby episodes was always never shown in correct order as well as Little Ricky plays drums and the Stage fright episodes also are always incorrect but lately I think that one was corrected. Maybe at Desilu they didn't mark the shows in chronological order correctly?!
