Default Oliver not so bad

I'm watching the "Shirley Temple" episode, and I think Oliver makes a perfect sidekick for Cindy. He could have probably lasted another season.

I think Oliver got a bad rap. IMO, he was okay. He was a lot better than some other additions on sitcoms. One example is Ricky from The Partridge Family. I couldn't stand that kid. He was so obnoxious, annoying and a horrible singer. Oliver was alright. He was a nice boy and he always meant well.

I didn't mind Oliver, I liked the episode where he and Bobby thought Sam and the other guy were spies.

I think it was nice to finally see Bobby and Cindy taking the lead and having Oliver as their sidekick..... up until then it was always Bobby and Cindy being the sidekick while someone else took the lead, usually Peter

The one thing I didn't like about Oliver was, as someone put it, when he shows up you know it's all but over practically

Oliver brought the youth scripts back to the Brady Bunch. The kids were all grown up and those simple childhood issue plots could not work anymore. In the last 7 or so episodes her was in, he was both Bobby's and Cindy's sidekick for some simple stuff.
I don't think it would have lasted another season though. Robert Reed not only refused to appear in the last episode but he also refused to take part in the pie throwing scene in the first Oliver episode. The scripts were getting more ridiculous too. I just hated the way they tried to keep Cindy looking so young. She wore pig tails into the last season and that dress she wore in the first part of Snooperstar (not the Shirley Temple one) was something you put on a doll.

Agree on all points. And Ricky was so bad they had to ditch him after a few episodes.

Was it ever directly stated how long Oliver was supposed to stay with the Bradys?(I know his parents were out of the country.)

I think Oliver is perfect as the "little sidekick" type lol I could see Cindy or Bobby doing a magic act with Oliver as the assistant whose eager to help but keeps bumbling things up lol I know there was an episode like that with Peter earlier, but I could see Oliver as a bumbling assistant lol

Hey, at least Cousin Oliver never attempted to sing! Though, his parents sure ditched him as fast as Ricky's parents did (and didn't even say a peep to Mike or Carol [strike ]before zooming off the set ).
