Ok I started writing a series of fan fics and I posted them on the Lifetime message boards. Now I am going to post them on here. Tell me what you think.

1:00 p.m. at The Division
Kate: (arriving back from lunch break) Did I get any messages while I was gone, Raina?

Raina: (picking up small piece of paper) Yes, you got one from Haysbert, he wants to know if you've gotten any leads on the Smith-Jones case yet, and then one from Ross (starts to grin) he wanted to know if you were still going to dinner with him.

Kate: Why would he ask that? Of course I'm still going to dinner with him! (takes paper from Raina)

Raina: I don't know, Captain. Maybe he has something special planned? (grins at Kate again)

Kate: (shoots look at Raina and walks into her office)(picks up phone) Charles? About the Smith-Jones case, we haven't found any leads yet, but I have officers checking the home of the victim right now, looking for prints and...

Haysbert: OK Kate, you know you need to start cracking down and get these cases solved sooner for the people of this city. It is just too dangerous to have killers everywhere.

Kate: Yes, I know. I am working hard, and I am having a meeting with my entire precinct tomorrow about that.

Haysbert: Alright Kate, I'll let you get back to work now. (hangs up)

Kate: (hangs up fpr a sec and then dials Ross)

Waitress at Ross's restaurant: Hello?

Kate: Yes, may I speak with Ross please?

Waitress: Yes, one moment please.

Kate: (on hold) This music sucks! Hurry up-

Ross: Hello?

Kate: Hey there!

Ross: Hello, Pretty Lady!

Kate: Now, why would you ask me if I was still going to dinner with you? Of course I am! The only thing to keep me from dinner with you is death...or Haysbert.

Ross: (laughs) Yes I know. I was just making sure. I have to go now, we are very busy today. I love you.

Kate: Alright. I love you too.

[Rhiannon]

7:30 p.m. Kate's House
Kate: I need to go on a diet, this dress makes me look fat! (doorbell rings) Yay he is finally here.

(Kate answers door)

Ross: (kisses Kate) You look lovely. Are you ready to go?

Kate: Yes, I am. (grabs purse and locks door)

Ross: (in the car driving) I made reservations at your favorite restaurant. (me: I have no idea of any names of restaurants and I am not going to think of any)

Kate: Really? Do you have something planned? (smiles)

Ross: What makes you say that dear? (smiles back)

8:00 p.m. Restaurant

Ross: (getting out of the car) May I take your arm, Kate?

Kate: Yes, you big flirt! (chuckles)

8:30 Still at restaurant, already have their food, and are drinking expensive wine.

Kate: Ross, this is so sweet of you. I love being with you, it's the best feeling in the world!

Ross: I'm glad you say that, because theor os something I'd like to ask you.

Kate: (eyes are getting big as Ross pulls something out of his pocket)Anything. Anything at all!

Ross: Kate, will you marry me?

Kate: (looks at ring and starts to cry) Oh Ross...I am breathless. (cell phone rings)

Kate: Hello?

Haysbert: Kate, another man was shot in the same way the 3 other men were killed, the way the 3 victims involved in the Smith-Jones case were killed. I think you need to drop by here and have a chat with me and your officers...

Kate: No, I am very busy. Like I said, I will do it tomorrow.

Haysbert: Kate, you are slacking off again. Tomorrow we WILL have this chat...don't forget! (hangs up)

Kate: Yeah, yeah *******.

Ross: So Kate? What do you say?

[Rhiannon]

Kate: (Looking at Ross with teary eyes)(phone rings)(in a angry voice)Hello?!
Raina: Whoa sorry!

Kate: Sorry. I thought it was Haysbert threatening me again.

Raina: Oh. Well anyway, we just got a call, a female and her 14-month old baby had their throats slit in the next neighboorhood over from where you are.

Kate: Hold on, how do you know where I am?

Raina: Ross told me earlier. Anyway, Haysbert wants you to be here. We got patrols responding and Magda and Jinny are also on their way, but you still need to come.

Kate: Oh alright. Ruin my perfect night!(hangs up)

Kate: Ross I have to go check this crime scene a couple blocks over. Come on, you come with me.

Ross: Alright, I go where you go.

9:00 p.m. Crime Scene

(in the car Kate explained everything to Ross)

Kate: Ross, you wait out here. This is police area and since you did just eat you don't want to see the bodies.

Raina: (walks up to Ross) So? What'd she say?

Ross: Nothing yet. I proposed and then she got a call from Haysbert. Then you called and we had to leave.

Raina: Oh well. You know she's going to say yes anyway!

Ross: I hope so. I love her so much.

Magda: Hey Captain, Raina filled you in right? (hands her a vest)

Kate: (angrily) Yeah.(puts on vest and pulls out gun)

Jinny: A couple minutes ago we heard some noises upstairs, probabnly the perp. Ready to go everybody?

CD: Yeah, ready as ever.

Nate: Sure.

(all have guns pulled)

Kate: (starts to enter building)

Jinny: Hey! You know Captain never goes first!

Kate: OK fine. Hurry and go in!

Nate: I'll go.

(all inside, guns pointed in front)

Magda: Captain, I really don't see how you can do this in those heels!

Kate: It's all in the job, Mag.

Jinny: (shoots look at Magda, then to CD)

(noise upstairs)

Kate: Alright I'm going up there. (starts running up the stairs)

Nate: Captain let me go first!

Kate: (ignores Nate)(once upstairs, sees perp)SFPD! Freeze or I will shoot!

Perp: (Runs toward window)

Kate: I said freeze!

Perp: (still advancing from Kate)

Kate: Damnit, I've had enough of this crap. (shoots gun 2 times)

Perp: (lays dead)(blood spatters on Kate)

Kate: Oh God. This is great!

9:15 Crime Scene
Kate: (walks out of building) Ross I'm sorry I ruined the evening by running out of the restaurant like I did, then the shooting, and the blood-

Ross: Kate, it's alright with me. It's your job, you have no choice! Oh, by the way, you have a little blood on your left cheek...(pulls out hankerchief and dabs it on his tongue, wipes blood of Kate)

Kate: OK, where were Ross? Yes! I will marry you! (pulls Ross down by the tie and kisses him)

Raina: Hey everybody, she said yes! She said yes to Ross!

Magda: Oh Captain, I'm so happy for you!

Magda, Jinny, CD, Raina: (walk up and hug Kate who is crying)

Nate: (walks up and shakes Ross's hand) Congratulations!

Ross: Thank you.

Raina: Well Ross, I told you she'd say yes!

Ross: I'm glad you were right Raina.

Kate: (walks up to Ross)Ready to go? (big smile)

Ross: (kisses Kate on her head and takes her arm)

(now we all now what recently engagaed couples do, so I will not go into any more detail between Kate adn Ross, let's just say it involves "breakfast")

CD: I can't believe she's engaged. Maybe she'll cut us some slack now?

Jinny: Yeah right! 10 bucks says she gets tougher!

Magda: I don't thin she'll change. She'll be happy but she won't cut slack!

Nate: Hey you guys want to go get something to eat? I am starved!

Raina: Sure. I'm hungry too.

9:00 a.m. The Division- next day
Haysbert: Kate you are FINALLY here. What took you so long?

Kate: I'm here, right on time. It is 9 unless I am mistaken.

Haysbert: OK anyway, it is time for the long-awaited chat.
Are you ready?

Kate: Could I at least put down my coffee and bag first? (walks out of office)Alright everyone. I need you to listen up, and I need all patrols to come in off the streets.

Raina: I called them in 5 minutes ago, Captain. They are on their way.

Kate: Thank you, Raina.

9:30 All patrols arrive, everyone is at The Division

Haysbert: OK everyone Captain McCafferty and I need to talk you about a serious problem. We are not solving enough cases and there are too many killers on the road. You are working too much overtime and still nothing is getting solved and more criomes happen everyday. I think that cause of all this is because your captain has been slacking off lately, she has been missing work for personal reasons and she takes long lunch breaks. Actually, I am quite concerned with her. She is not as great as I expected to only female captain on the SFPD to be. She has higher standards because she is a woman and she is just not meetong them. If things continue as they are I am going to have to dismiss Captain McCafferty and replace her with someone who can do the job. (turns to Kate who is getting angry) It's up to you, whether or not you keep the job. You need to stop coming in late and leaving early and no more 2-hour lunchbreaks. I'm simply not going to allow it anymore. (stands up and walks out of The Division)

Magda, Jinny, CD, Nate, and Raina: (give each other concerned looks)

Kate: (pissed off) Well was that a chat with my precinct or a big slap in my ego as the boss around here? I swear I can't stand him! (goes into office)

CD and Nate: (knock on office door and walk in) Captain? We need to talk to you about a warrant-we tried to say something earlier when Haysbert was here but he wouldn't stop talking.

Kate: Let me see what you have on this guy.

CD: They found fingerprints on the silverware in the kitchen, and they found the missing knife in the upstairs hall closet with the same man's fingerprints on it.

Nate: Yeah along with his driver's license and a comb with his DNA on it.

Kate: (starts to laugh) Are you serious? This guy must be new! Anyway, I will drop by the DA's office later and pick up a warrant for his address. Good job guys.

11:00 a.m. CD and Nate have brought in the suspect and he ahs been arrested for the murder

Kate: (calls Haysbert) Charles? Yes, I was just letting you know that Inspectors Basso and Delorenzo caught the guy who slashed the throats of the wife and baby of the Matthews family, and it wasn't the husband as we thought at first. He is being held now until the trial.

Haysbert: Alright Kate. Good work-for today. (hangs up)

[Rhiannon]

1:30 p.m. The Division
Kate: (thinking to self) I think I need to take the rest of the day off, to be with Ross. I want to go give him a surprise visit at his restaurant. (puts on coat and picks up bag)

Jinny: Going somewhere Captain?

Kate: Yes, I am taking the rest of the day off. If Haysbert drops by, tell him I am out talking to a witness or something believable.

Jinny: Sure thing, Captain.

Kate: Bye everyone.

Magda: Why do you think she's leaving? I hope everything's alright with her...

CD: I bet she is just going to be with Ross. It makes sense, they just got engaged last night!

Raian: Yeah, I agree CD. She has been so much happier since she met Ross, I am happy for them.

Magda: Me too.

2:00 p.m. Ross's Restaurant

Kate: (walks into the restaurant)

Ross: Hey there Pretty Lady. I thught you were working today.

Kate: Yes well, my boss has come by so many times today I could care less if he does anymore. Not to mention I wanted to see my fiance and ask how he is doing! (smiles and kisses Ross)

Ross: Come on and have some wine with me then, since you aren't going back to work and could care less about your boss.

(both walk to bar)

Kate: I was thinking and wouldn't it make sense for us to move in together? You know, buy a house big enough for the both of us and all our things...

Ross: I think that's a very good idea. It is going to be hell trying to find a house though.

Kate: Yes well I will call a real-estate agent and set up a lunch date for the 3 of us to look at some houses and figure out a plan for selling ours.

(Raina walks in to restaurant)

Ross: There's Raina. You've been busted by your boss!

Raina: Hey Captain, Haysbert dropped by, and Jinny gave him the excuse you told her to but he didn't buy it. He said if you don't get your ass back to your office now he's going to have your badge and you'd be doing mall security for the rest of your life.

Kate: ****. Well Ross I guess I have to care about my boss now! I'll see you later tonight?

Ross: Yes, later tonight. I love you. (leans over bar and kisses her)

[Rhiannon]

2:45 p.m. The Division
Kate: (walks into the division, sees Haysbert in her office)

Jinny: Busted!

Kate: Shut up Jinny.

Jinny: Ok, Ok it was just a joke, geez!

Haysbert: Ah, Kate! There you are finally. Thought you could just leave work huh? Not on my time without my permission. I am dead serious when I say you need to start working more, in fact tonight I am having you work overtime.

Kate: Charles, I had plans-

Haysbert: Cancel them.

Kate: You know, I do have a life, which does not completely revolve around paperwork and legal proceedures.

Haysbert: Oh really? Girl you better recognize.

Kate: (puzzled look) I guess you aren't working overtime then, are you?

Haysbert: As a matter of fact, no I have tickets to the India Arie concert.

Kate: (thinks to self: What the hell? Is this a joke?(decides not to say aloud))India Arie? (pauses with look on face) Gooood!

(sorry I HAD to add that it was such a funny line!!)

Haysbert: Yes I know! Anyway, Kate I am leaving. Cancel your plans and get back to work NOW!

Kate: Alright ok I will! I am...whatever

Magda: What the hell is all that crap about? She has the weirdest conversations with the weirdest people...yesterday she was on the phone with someone talking about having breakfast for dinner. It made no sense at all!

Raina: Oh you don't wanna know about that one, the breakfast...trust me you don't wanna know.

[Rhiannon]

3:00 a.m. Kate's House
(phone rings)

Ross: Damnit who calls your house at 3 in the morning?

Kate: Hello? Oh hey Charles. What can I do for you?(gives Ross sad face)

Haysbert: There's been a robery at a house near your neighborhood and since you live near here I think yu should come check it out.

Kate: It's 3 in the morning! Can't you get some uniforms or inspectors to go? Please?

Haysbert: It's your job, not mine. Now get down here.

Kate: Be there in 15.

Ross: You have to leave?

Kate: (as she is getting dressed)Yeah there's been a robery in the next neighborhood over and Char;es wants me there.

Ross: Well I'll keep the bed warm while you are gone. (laughs)

Kate: (sarcastically) Aren't you SWEET dear?

Ross: (turns over to go back to sleep)Bye.

Kate: Yeah bye.

3:15 a.m. Crime Scene

Jinny: (yawns) So is Captain on her way or not?

Magda: I guess I have no idea.

Haysbert: Yes I just called her she should be here any minute now.

Raina: There. She just pulled up.

Haysbert: Thank God I was beginning to wonder.

Theresa: (Haysbert's sister played by Star Jones) Finally it's about time she got here!

Haysbert: Yeah, we'll find out who did this and get your things back, OK?

Kate: So another robbery, another victim, can we get this done so I can get back home please?

Haysbert: Kate this not "another victim" this is my sister.

Kate: Oh God please kill me now.

Theresa: HEY! I'm a lawyer.

Haysbert: Yeah my sister the lawyer. Either way Kate she makes more than you do and if this isn't a solved one then it's your job.

Theresa: Yeah, I'm a lawyer and I could sue for this.

Magda to Jinny: Poor Captain. This is going to be hard on her ass!

Jinny: Yep!

Theresa: Would you please stop talking and look for fingerprints or whatever you do? I AM a lawyer, you know...

Raina: Damnit if you don't quit saying that I am going to scream. We all know everyone hates lawyers.

Haysbert: Whoa? Everyone hates lawyers? Since when?

Kate to self: GREAT comeback.

Raina: (turns and gives Jinny and Magda funny look)

Magda: So Captain, we um, got these fingerprints and we're checking to see whose they are, and uh, can we get a warrant for the arrest of whoever they belong to?

Kate: I guess...

Haysbert: Hell yeah you can, we gotta this figured out.

Jinny: Hey who is that guy hiding in the trees over there? He's been watching us the whole time. (pulls gun and runs toward him, Magda and Raina along with some uniforms follow)

(guy gets shot by Jinny)(30 minutes later)

Kate: Guess what everybody. The fingerprints found earlier match this guy, he's our perp. Nice work! Now I am going home.

[Rhiannon]

4:00 a.m Kate's House
Kate: (walks into bedroom) Ross?

Ross: (wakes up) What?

Kate: Oh nothing, just waking you up is all.

Ross: So what happened? Did you get anybody?

Kate: Yes, Jinny shot the guy who robbed the house. Oh! And guess who's house was robbed?

Ross: I give up Kate. How the hell could I know?

Kate: (shoots look) It's was Charles' sister's house. Theresa. She's a lawyer!

Ross: That must have been fun. Was Haysbert all over you about getting this one solved?

Kate: Yes. He threatened me, again.

Ross: (sits up) He's not going to fire you, and if he did he'd be losing the best cop in the world. (kisses her head)

Kate: (thinks for a couple of minutes)I was thinking and with all this pressure put on me by Haysbert, I don't think I could lan a wedding or even get the day off to be married and there'd be no honeymoon for sure. (sits quietly, waiting on Ross's response)

Ross: (looks very concerned) So what are you saying? Do you not want to marry me anymore?

[Rhiannon]

Kate: Ross, I just don't know if you would be happy married to me. I am always leaving and I could die any minute of any day. And where would you be then? If I died? I couldn't do that to you.
Ross: Do what to me? Make me happy? Give me a reason to live? I have been so much happier since I met you. Of course I want to marry you, I love you!

Kate: (tears up) I just don't know...(gets under blanket and cries for hours)

Ross: (lies in bed and thinks while Kate cries)


a few hours later
(alarm goes off)

Kate: Time for work. Like always. (goes and gets in shower)

Ross: (goes downstairs)

Kate: (after getting dressed and goes downstairs, she finds that Ross has gone home) Damnit, I knew I'd be the one to blow it. Why I am so stupid? Why can't I ever take any risks? I'm going to be 90 and still be sitting behind that desk doing paper work and I'll never have married.

9:30 a.m. The Division

Kate: CD, Nate I need to talk to you for a second, OK?

CD: (looks at Nate, then back to Captain) Sure Captain.

Kate: How far have you two gotten with the Turner case? Any leads yet?

Nate: Well we believe the son has the best motive to kill the parents so far.

CD: Yeah, we talked to some of his teachers and friends yesterday and they said he's been acting different lately, that he's been acting angry, or more so than usual.

Kate: Alright well don't forget to check the neighbors, the daughter, any relatives. We can't afford to mess up on these cases, you know that.

Nate: Yes Captain. We know.

(after lunch)

Raina: Captain? Are you OK? You've been sitting there staring for quite some time now, and you look like you didn't get much sleep last night. Is everything alright?

Kate: Raina, it is none of your business. We clear on that?

Raina: Sorry for being concerned. I'll uh, just be getting back to my desk now, see ya later!

Kate: (picks up phone and dials Ross's restaurant for the 100th time (or so it seems to her)) Yes. May I speak with Ross please?

Waitress: Kate, I'm sorry but her said he didn't want any calls from you, I am so sorry.

Kate: Fine. (hangs up and cries again)

[Rhiannon]

Raina: Captain, you sure you don't want to talk? You know I'm good at talking!
Kate: (motions for Raina to come in) Close the door please.

Raina: Sure thing, Captain. So what's up?

Kate: (blank stare) I think I ruined my relationship with Ross.

Raina: Are you serious? What happened?

Kate: After I got home last night after being called out by Haysbert, I told him I didn't think he would be happy married to me. I said that I don't think I could live being married to him knowing that I could die at any time because of my job.

Raina: What'd he say about that?

Kate: He said he was happy being with me now. Then he asked me if I didn't want to marry him anymore.

Raina: Oh God, what did you say? You did say something, right?

Kate: (now crying more than before) I didn't answer. I just stared at him. I am so dumb! How could I do this?? (puts head down on her desk and lets it all out)

Raina: I don't know what to tell you, I am not experienced in this situation.

(Kate doesn't answer)

Raina: Talk to him. Tell him you were being dumb and that you want to marry him now more than ever.

Kate: I tried calling him. He doesn't take my calls.

Raina: Go visit him at his restaurant. He is working right? He can't throw you out! (laughs quietly)

Kate: Raina, that's not funny.

Raina: Well I gave you my advice. Like I said earlier, I have no experience, but talking to him should help! (leaves office)

(later that night)

Kate: (sitting quietly in her office) Now I am going back to my old routine. I will stay here late every night and then go home and go straight to bed. It's pathetic! I have to go to his house. Even if he won't let me in.

Kate: (sitting in Ross's driveway) I don't know what to say, I don't know what to do. What if he is happy I am gone? Out of his life? What if he doesn't want me back? (pauses) I'll never know until I go talk to him. (gets out of car and walks to front door. Rings doorbell, but no answer.) Oh he's not home. Unless he won't let me in. I don't know what to do...I am lost...I am dying without knowing what is about to happen between us...(sits on porch and waits, waits for anything to happen)

(45 minutes later, Ross drives up, he pulls into his garage. Kate is asleep on the porch by now)

(Ross comes out the front door and wakes Kate up)

Ross: Get up and come inside, it's freezing out here!

Kate: (stands up and hugs Ross very close to her, and begins to cry) I love you...so much. Please forgive me...I am sorry...I love you...

Ross: Then do one thing for me.

Kate: Anything.

Ross: Come on. (together they walk into house and down into the garage) Ride with me, OK?

Kate: Anywhere with you. (squeezes Ross's hand and rests her head on his shoulder as they drive along)

Next Day- 9:30 a.m. The Division

Kate: (walking towards elevator)

Magda: Captain! Wait up!

Kate: (turns toward Magda)

Magda: Where were you last night? We wanted to tell you we got the guy for killing his parents, the DA gave us the warrant since you had gone home. Or did you? We tried your cell phone, your house, Ross's house and his restaurant...where were you guys?

Kate: (a big smile forms on her face)
