Question Help Please

Each castaway has to have a background... Why did each individual castaway go on that three hour tour? What were they doing the day before? I need this info, I'm a screenwriter and I'm writing a screenplay based on this tv show. I've already decided I want Joan Rivers to play Eunice Wentwurth "Lovey"

Um, okay, here's what I know.
Mary Ann won a contest in a magazine: the prize was a crusie to Hawaii. While on the cruise, she won another contest for the three hour tour aboard the Minnow.
Professor Roy Hinkley was on the trip to get a little quiet time to work on his book 'Fun With Ferns.' How a 3 hr. tour would help w/ that beats me. lol.
Ginger was doing a nightclub act the night before and took the trip to relax, which is why she was still in her fancy gown.
The Howells: don't know. lol. They were just there.

I think I got most of this info from www.gilligansisle.com a while ago. Hope I helped.

(Joan Rivers? Eh, maybe she could pull it off. Won't believe it 'till I see it.)

this what I have so far

Open against BLACK as we hear a MAN’S VOICE

MAN’S VOICE (V.O.)
Well, good morning, everyone. Its Monday,
It looks like we’re going to be having some
rain later this week, beginning Wednesday
continuing throughout Friday ... So let’s
start this week off, with the new Rock ’n’
roll band the Beatles.

FADE IN:

EXT. HONOLULU HARBOR – TUESDAY MORNING

Sunlight bathes the pier. A few pleasure boats are parked. CAMERA TRACKS the harbor spotting a particular moderately huge bulking hull.... fresh flat white paint has been applied hours ago... TRACK UP now, in BIG BLUE LETTERS... S. S. MINNOW

Do you think it's good?

So far, yeah it's good.

(I used to have some nit-picky stuff in here about how the radio didnt say there would be a storm the Tuesday the Minnow left, but then I went back and read the screenplay again, more carefully, and noticed that you accounted for this. Heh, and I thought I was being all smart. That's why the post is edited.)

Awesome, keep going!

Yeah, I thought the exact thing you did. I went back and looked more carefully, too.

Keep goin'! It sounds great!!!

(BTW, if you need a Ginger, I'm here for ya! LOL. I already got the red hair...)

I don't know what to do because I heard somewhere that the reason they placed all their gear on the minnow was because the motel/hotel that is near the pier was having room service trouble and the rooms weren't able until 4:00 later that day..... Now I'm thinking the only reason the The Howells are there is so they can buy the try and see if investing into boats is a good idea... I DON'T KNOW.

You can make up whatever you want for the Howells b/c it was never said about why they were there -- the investing into boats thing isn't a bad a idea.
Hmm...I never heard about the hotel thing before, where did you hear it?

(Oh yea, as for casting, I'm so here for ya too. lol. Just got my rave reviews from my performance as Helena in 'Midsummer Night's Dream.' lolol. Okay, I'll leave you alone now. lol)

I think that the Howells just needed to spend some of their money.
