I didn’t listen to this one because I’m an animal lover and vegan and I knew this episode would break my heart. I wish they had gone a bit more traditional with ghosts or demons for the Halloween season.

I listened to this while I was mowing my lawn...and my dog kept following me around the yard...so the theme of the show hit me in the feels pretty good.

Of course, the idea that dogs would speak English to the medium is silly, but the stories each of the guests told about loving and missing their pets were not without merit.

The episode isn't much different than your average ghost or ESP story that they ran all the time on the original show.

The keyword of the show is "unsolved". How are you supposed to "solve" a ridiculous notion that pets communicate after they are dead?

And.. There's a TON of people who buy into this. It's a total scam, but.. Remember that these people are in a vulnerable state which is really what is their downfall.

They are so desperate for any sign or anything that it blinds them to what's actually happening. So.. I more feel badly for these people than think badly of them.

Now.. If you want to learn some new swear words.. I can tell you what I think of people like John Edward who prey on these vulnerable people..


Also.. I'd like to point out.. Apparently yesterday there were people in Dealy Plaza in Dallas waiting on John F Kennedy Jr to show up and make a speech.

Agreed. If people genuinely believe in this, and it helps them heal, I have no problem with it as a form of therapy.

Honestly... I don't think most of them 'believe' in it.. They're just.. Looking for anything.

Somewhere out there in internet world, I believe is a copy of the John Edward contract... If you are in the audience, what you can and can't say about the experience. It's rather draconian.

Way, way back in the day, I used to listen to a radio show.. The Don and Mike Show out of DC.. They have gone their separate ways, Mike doing podcasts and Don is on WBIG in DC now.. But.. Don's wife Freda, who would tragically pass away in a car accident less than a year(As I recall) after the John Edward reading.. Went to one of his tapings and actually wound up on his show "Crossing Over".. He got her to believe he was talking to her brother and father, as I recall.. It was just all pretty disgusting.. ESPECIALLY with what happened to her shortly afterwards.

I would laugh my ass off if they brought him a test and stacked the audience with middle easterners.. "I'm getting the name James.. Does anyone have a James in their family.. No? How about Bob?"

I wonder how many of these people who go pay to see "mediums" would actually feel better off and accept grief better had they simply went to a grief counselor or psychiatrist. Probably the majority of them.

Just taking a guess here. I'd say long term.. Many of them.

Short term. Few.

These BS artists, and that's just as good a name for them as anything.. Give the instant gratification that is like morphine. It takes away the pain now. Probably only temporarily.. but it takes it away.

By the time the people logically think things through and figure out that they were BSed.. HOPEFULLY enough time has passed that they've made it through those initial stages of grief. Now, if they gave up money for it. It actually works in a way too, because the grief can be replaced with anger at the scammer.

Jesus.. Sound like i'm almost defending them. Maybe I'm just looking on the bright side here. They're still the scum of the Earth.

A REAL therapist is not going to work as quickly. It's a slower process.. But.. Much better overall results. And probably costs less, too.
