Unless of course, you're in the proper mind-set. Others online have complained that when compared to his character on Home Improvement, Tim Allen just seems angrier and embittered on Last Man Standing.
Basically, it was a show that appeared to be little more than a conduit for Tim Allen to spread his views. In other words, it was depending on your point of view, a platform for people who are bitter about "cancel culture". Maybe it's because of bad writing or because of the culture clash, but does the decidedly conservative slant feel alien, even if you remotely agree with or share those types of views? Or maybe it's because Tim Allen was trying to play a character akin to Archie Bunker, but doesn't have the charm or charisma of an actor like Carol O'Connor to pull it off without being totally obnoxious. Granted, I don't now if that's absolutely supposed to be intentional, but even if you discount the political and generational humor, Mike Baxter unlike Tim Taylor, doesn't seem to have as much of a genuine warm side and be generally well-meaning. On Home Improvement, this allowed to things to more effectively play off of the machismo as a balance. And whereas, Tim on Home Improvement was like I said, a genuinely a good guy that just happened to be rough around the edges, Mike on Last Man Standing is basically a curmudgeon that does the same stuff but he thinks he's right and doesn't want to learn from his mistakes like Tim. |

It was definitely not all sweetness and canned laughter, that's for sure.

I only saw LMS a few times and couldn't get into it. HI was just a better program, IMO.

To me, if anything makes the show unpleasant, it is there being so many changes to the cast members.
God bless you and every cast member who is still here always!!! Holly P.S. May the man who gave us Bud Baxter rest in peace. |

I wish there should have been a different actor to play Mike Baxter than Tim Allen. But Tim already returned to the movies recently along the way.

But I do know that Allen is a conservative and evidently every other show on TV spreading liberal views is perfectly find but no such conservative show should be allowed. |
