While the overall quality of sitcoms has really declined in the 21st century, The Middle is just as good as the 20th century classics. Its 9 season run ties Patricia Heaton's previous show Everybody Loves Raymond. Except her husband here was a lot more likable. Mike Heck was played by Neil Flynn, with Patricia playing Frankie Heck. Set in my home state of Indiana, Mike and Frankie had three kids: self centered Axl played by Charlie McDermott, clumsy Sue played by Eden Sher, and quirky Brick played by Atticus Shaffer who liked whispering to himself. The Middle aired from 2009-2018 on ABC.

Sabrina, the Teenage Witch was the anchor of ABC's TGIF lineup from 1996-2000 during the high school years. When ABC cancelled after season 4, the WB picked it up for three more seasons to 2003 in the college years. But they did not know how to treat it, firing the aunts and almost having Sabrina marry someone who was not worth it. Starring Melissa Joan Hart as Sabrina Spellman, with Caroline Rhea and Beth Broderick as her aunts Hilda and Zelda. Nick Bakay provided the voice for talking cat Salem.
