Default Could BMW have lasted until 2003?

Do you think Boy Meets World could have lasted another 3 seasons if it had not been cancelled?

Oh yeah, easy. It was still gathering high ratings.

Why was it canceled if it was getting high ratings? Seeing them move to New York City as adults would have been fun.

Rider Strong had been chomping on the bit for the last couple of seasons and wanted to move past playing Shawn Hunter- and there's evidence that he was the series biggest draw. Hence, I have serious doubts that he'd have agreed to have done any more seasons as a regular (and seemed to only agree to do the lamentable GMW via them promising to let him and his brother co-direct about twice as many episodes as he appeared in).

Poor Will Friedle had developed serious anxiety issues in the last couple of years of the show (that would result in him steer his performing career into almost exclusively doing voice work) so I'm not sure they could have gotten him to do Eric in NYC on a regular basis. BTW, Mr. Friedle had had to take medication to deal with said anxieties to keep being able to perform on camera before a live audience which resulted in him gaining 30 pounds- yet they actually had Alan make fun of Eric's weight gain as though Eric had merely gone on a chili-dog and loaded baked potato diet!

They'd already said their goodbyes to Alan & Amy Matthews to say nothing of Mr. Feeny so without these adults around to ground them on a regular basis, I'm not sure the show would have worked too well for very long.

So, no Shawn, no Eric, no mature adults. ..I'm not sure the show would have lasted too long (and the lamentable GMW suffered from not having all the above as regulars instead of having them guesting [with Mr. Feeny being rather shabbily treated']).

I never knew these details and I am amazed at them. Thank you for sharing!

Girl Meets World had some good moments and some bad moments for sure. I cannot agree enough Shawn was certainly a huge part of BMW.

If the show had continued we would have had the cory and topanga show, with some guest appearances by Shawn, Eric, etc. So new cast mates, and yeah that probably doesn't last.

Your welcome.

Yes, I think it likely would have limped off into obscurity had they attempted it without Shawn, Eric, Alan, Amy or Mr. Feeny as regulars.
