On November 6, 1995, Aneta Corsaut died of cancer in Studio City, Los Angeles, California, just three days after her 62nd birthday.[1][4] She is buried in Valhalla Memorial Park Cemetery in North Hollywood, Los Angeles.

Born in Hutchinson, Kansas, Corsaut was the daughter of Jesse Harrison and Opal J. (née Swarens) Corsaut. She majored in drama at Northwestern University and studied acting with Lee Strasberg. During her junior year, Corsaut dropped out to pursue a career in acting, although during the run of The Andy Griffith Show, Corsaut took courses at UCLA with plans to earn her degree.

Corsaut first appeared on the long-running Griffith show in 1963 as schoolteacher Helen Crump, who later became the Mayberry sheriff's wife on the first episode of the spinoff Mayberry R.F.D. Corsaut also had a continuing role as policeman Bumper Morgan's pawn shop owner friend on the series The Blue Knight and as Irma Howell in the short-lived series Mrs. G. Goes to College. In the TV series Adam-12, Corsaut portrayed Officer Pete Malloy's girlfriend, Judy. She had a supporting role as Head Nurse Bradley in the 1980s sitcom House Calls, and also appeared in several episodes of Matlock with star Andy Griffith. In addition, Corsaut played the role of nurse Jesse Brewer in 1977 on the long-running ABC soap opera General Hospital when long-time portrayer Emily McLaughlin was too ill to work.

Now a just-released blockbuster book, “Andy & Don,” rips the lid off the shameful secrets of the beloved stars who played Sheriff Andy Taylor and his bumbling deputy Barney Fife on the popular series, which ran from 1960 to 1968.

Written by Don’s brother-in-law Daniel De Visé, the book has branded both men as sex-crazed womanizers who cheated on their first wives — and going on secret double dates with their mistresses!

The author also revealed Andy’s shocking dark rages. The actor wrecked hotel rooms and smashed car windshields during fits of fury that also kept his cast and crew quaking in terror!

“Most of us were deathly afraid of Andy,” confessed George Lindsey, who played Goober Pyle on the sitcom.

But two people who weren’t cowed by Andy were his lifelong buddy Don and Aneta Corsaut, who played Helen Crump, his girlfriend, on the sitcom.

She became his real-life lover almost immediately after joining the cast in 1963.

“Andy couldn’t get enough of Aneta,” the author wrote—quoting one of Andy’s buddies as saying the relationship “was true love. They were closer than anyone knew.”

Certainly, Andy hid his affair from then-wife Barbara, who he wed in 1949 and divorced in 1972. But he often went on double dates with Don, who was married to first wife Kathryn Metz at the time.

Don’s squeeze was Lynn Paul, the assistant to Andy’s manager, said the book, which also claimed Don’s marriage to Kathryn ended in divorce in 1966 after he confessed to his humiliated wife he’d been bedding Lynn.

Meanwhile, Andy’s torrid affair with Aneta was the worst-kept secret on the set.

Once as a prank, a crew member donned a waiter’s uniform and delivered a dinner to his Hollywood hotel room — catching Andy and Aneta locked in a steamy embrace.

Andy was so smitten with Aneta that he proposed to her even though he was married, says the book. ‘

“Andy popped the question at least once and possibly two or three times, as Aneta hinted in later years,” wrote the author. “She turned him down.”

Added her brother Jesse: “She wanted to keep her personal freedom.”

Aneta also kept Andy on the hook until her death in 1995, 17 years before his 2012 passing. From 1987 to 1992, he cast her in roles on his hit lawyer series, “Matlock.”

But the author says party-hardy Andy bedded other women, too, including stunning actress Joanna Moore—who appeared in four episodes of “The Andy Griffith Show,” and later wed Ryan O’Neal and was the mother of his daughter Tatum.

His manager said Andy “loved sex.” Andy was married to Solica Casuto from 1975 to 1981 and Cindi Knight from 1983 until his death—but the book claimed his deepest relationships were with Aneta and Don.

the source was Don's brother in law and he did put out a book. I do not know Aneta 's personal life totally but she never got married and wanted her independence. I have read a lot of comments her and some did not like her character. The author said it was an open secret on the set. He meant to write the book mainly about Don but since him and Andy were so close he made it a duel bio.

Well, I take this with a grain of salt also. But it does confirm what I've read before of Andy being a real horror of a person in real life.

Aneta was a nice looking woman. This is the very first time that I have ever heard that she and Griffith were lovers. Maybe Don Knotts' brother is full of crap, or not. Aneta, Don and Andy are no longer alive to speak for themselves.

I was reading about TAGS on IMDB and it was mentioned that Griffith had a bandaged hand, which happened with Griffith punched a wall. So, more than likely, for some reason he had anger issues. I have also read this about John Cleese of Monty Python. BUT, most of the actors from that show were still friends or had a positive relationship with Griffith. If he was so hated or an ogre, the Return to Mayberry show would not have happened, or the various appearances the people made together. Griffith could be intense. See some of the stuff he did in the 1970's as a "heavy" or bad guy. He is really scary.

Don Knotts in all the interviews and such I have ever seen of him has always come off as a very nice man, and for the lack of a better word, just an "everyday person" that is an average guy who became famous. He seemed to like the fans, was approachable, I dont think anyone ever said anything against him, and his daughter sure loved him. But sorry, I just can't see Knotts catting around with a mistress and womanizing! But being rich and famous opens the doors and opens the legs.

What would Griffith gain if he would have given Knotts 50% of the show? If Griffith was making a million dollars a year, which is $7,000,000 dollars a year in today's money. What did Knotts do? A bunch of silly films, the Apple Dumpling Gang and a supporting character in Three's Company? Not that Knotts did not make great money, but Griffith probably eclipsed in him more in the long run. I think probably in the 1970's that Griffith was typecast and Hollywood did not know what to do with him, and he wanted to be a film actor and off television.

People are human beings and we all have problems and foibles. If I were famous, there could be a great tell all book about me, and that is not to brag because I have had a lot of trouble in life, anger, drink and drugs, relationships, money issues, no more or less than most everyone else.

The brother in law interviewed Ron Howard, Jim Nabors, Betty Lynn and other surviving cast members. It was not a tabloid book. It was verified by many sources.
