I went to the doctor yesterday to get my hearing checked b/c I've been having problems since January when I was sick. The doctor told me that I have some hearing loss in my ear. They don't know if its permanent or not right now. They said it is 1 of 3 things.
1. In inner ear infection from my initial ear infection way back when that is causing the membrane to thicken up. He is giving me some meds for this. 2. Some disease (I don't remember the name) that affects your hearing. He said if it is that, it will go away on it's own, and that it will come and go all my life. 3. The last option is that I have permanent hearing loss from when I was sick back in January. Only time will tell which one it is. I go back in 6 months to get my hearing tested again to see if it is the same, worse, or better. The thing is, I didn't let this fester or anything. I stayed on top of this. I was going to my doctor weekly, and it just wouldn't clear up She finally sent me to a specialist. This was my second appointment with him. The first time was last month and he told me my ear looked great, it must be the inner ear. So he set up a hearing test for me, and now this. It totally bites. I might have to deal with this for awhile. I'm NOT lookig forward to that. I thought they would find what is wrong and fix it, but they don't even know for sure WHAT is wrong. AAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!! Sorry, had to get that out. D |

That is a total bummer, but I kind of know what you are going through. I have experienced significant hearing loss in both my ears, and sad to say, I think it was caused by listening to music too loudly (and also back in the days when I couldn't drive, when my best friend's brother used to drive us around, he had one of those stereo systems that would shake the whole car and he never turned it down even when I asked
I should have simply refused to ride in that car, but then we may not have been able to go places and I would have been a party pooper) Oh well, nothing I can do about it now, except turn the music down and hope it doesn't get any worse. I used to be able to hear people whispering across a room....sad.... Hope it all works out OK for you Ags! I'll be thinkin' about you. Let us know the results when you find out... |

yea...I listen to music too loud too...but there's really nothing I can do about it, cause I turn it down too much and I can't hear it...band directors have the same problem! Yea, so, that was my babbling...I'll shut up now... |

I think I had something like that with #1. I had an earache that lasted for about 3 months, and I had to go to the doctor about 5 times just in order to cure the thing. I'm not too sure if #1 was all in detail of the problem I had, but did the doc give you any ear drops? I think I just found the bottle of ear drops I had. It's Zoto HC Otic Drops. I think thats the last ear drops I had to get. Maybe that could help?? I'm sorry you have to go through this, and I want you to know that I'm praying for you. |
