I get 69 stations. Digital Cable here is pretty much a rip off (lack of channels, such as TVLand, GSN, etc, which Is why I chose satellite). I also have satellite (I keep cable for the days when the satellite is out due to rain or stuff).

You people must live in very large cities or something if you get regular cable like that! Whenever I am in the County Seat (Jefferson, IA) I love to watch TV, especially at my Gma's because I get to watch Gameshow Network.

My dad won't get satelite or digital cable because of Showtime's Queer As Folk. He is homophobic.

Dang I'm jealous of people having ALL those channels. I'm like you rainman, my parents won't let me have showtime for that reason as well. Anyway we have nothing on our regular cable compared to most people, kinda depressing. We got digital just not long ago, it was a good investment. Satellite's may be good in other areas, but my town is up on a mesa, where winds are extremly high nearly everyday so few people have dishes.

I pay just over $60 a month for standard service, HBO, and Showtime. Digital cable runs $6.00-$12.00 more per month depending on the packages ordered. Those with digital get:

The expanded program guide. (You can brouse by date, time, theme, or channel up to a week in advance)

About 35-50 standard service channels (depending on the package ordered)

46 commercial free digital music stations

10-15 screens of any premium movie channels they subscribe to

40+ PPV channels

Optional sports packages for football, basketball, hockey, and baseball. (You can order a season of commercial free out of market games, and get up to 25 games per week. But the cost is absured, like $100+ although they let you pay in 2 installments, that's way behond the price range of what most people can pay.)

An Optional "Movie Lovers Package", which gives you 9 commercial free catagories of "Encore Movie Stations."

Our analog stations are good enough. The digital is too expensive. My parents don't watch a lot of TV and aren't into "change." Digital DOES have Game Show Network, which I am absolutely DROOLING OVER! (But $10 more per month just to watch GSN?) So, what I have been doing is I have been petitioning Time Warner Cable to move Game Show Network from digital to analog service! (e-mails, letters, phone calls ect) I am optimistic because we used to have HBO Plus and More Max (Which were shifted to digital, and replaced with Food Network and Golf Channel which used to be digital.) If they would move Sundance to digital or kill one of the mid 90 local access stations. (which is just a PIN infomercial network most of the time!) They could certainly get GSN in it's place! Otherwise our analog system is very good.
