Default Why do networks take off our fave shows and show crap like Friends?

Yeah, how come like shows like Facts of Life, Diff'rent Strokes, and stuff get taken off and they show crappy shows such as

Just shoot me
Friends
Home Improvement
Drew Carey

What shows do u think of that are getting old for syndication. EVERY frickin' network like syndicated WB, UPN, WGN, and TBS are always picking up the same damn show! I don't get why they are doing that? Are they like working together to torment us?

Oh, and was Caroline in the city on CBS or NBC?

You're messed up! 1.Home Improvement and Drew Carey, on ABC 2.Friends is good! 3. FOL and Diff'rent Strokes were long lasting shows...and I'm sure they wouldn't last over 20 years! They'd start to get stupid...

Caroline in the City was on NBC.

u shouldnt say "crap like friends" because people get upset. Did u ever wonder why the networks play so much of friends? RATING! thats all its ever about. Thats right, no one gives a crap about ur old different strokes. Its lived it time, people would rather watch current shows like friends than ur reruns. dont complain about the networks, yell at ur cable, Nick At Nite for not playing it. And you wanna hear the kicker about it all.... in 10 years from now, u will be watching Friends on Nick At Nite... u know why? Rating!!! People like to watch current reruns than OLD reruns because the show is still fresh. Different Strokes isnt Fresh anymore.I bet i could ask a 100 people if they ever watched Different Strokes & 75 would say "What?"

Friends is probably one of the best shows in history. It had the best #1 rating since it aired. It kept its orginal cast (for a price). I find it the ONLY good show left. Im a HUGE classic sitcom fan and Friends is a classic Sitcom. Its very funny. I dont understand why people call friends "CRAP" cos its really not. These Networks wouldnt be paying millions for these characters to make crap.

Maybe if u didnt get so hung up on hating the networks & watch a few episodes, u might like it. Dont judge something.I love Different Strokes & Facts of Life just as much as you do... but you gotta understand what the people like & laugh at & want. If i asked 10 people if they rather see Friends or Different Strokes. 8 would say Friends. I would say alot of shows are crap out there.. but people are watchin it, so i watch it too... and ya know what? sometimes the people are right and it is pretty good and other times ur sayin "who laughs at this?"... ur gonna always hate a show somebody loves & love a show somebody hates...

You cant compare Friends Vs the Facts of life, cos its TOTALLY different. Its a different time period, their nothing alike & u got whole new crowd of people with TVs, senses of humor and opinon.

Hey Nathan,
I just went to your site and I actually liked it...Is that a bad thing? It was really weird....All that stuff about K-Mart and Nintendo, Not many people can make sites like that...Are you one of those 'Maybe everyone in the world is a loser, and I'm the only cool 1' people? Well, that's WAY off topic. Bye now....

I am not talking about like airing on their home networks, I mean on Syndication! TBS, WGN, Local WB, Local UPN, and even your local FOX, NBC, ABC, or CBS Stations air syndicated shows.

thank u for that important imformation. i will go inform all 24 million people who watch friends that they are brain dead. What would we do without ur great advice & opinon. i guess humans of earth will never have to think for ourselves again after that statement.

i think its funny how so many can hate the show friends, but it can have 11 emmy nominations & millions just watching it everyday, but we have to follow ur judgement because ur the king of the world.

I don't think Friends is a bad show on TV. One show I can;t stand is Barney Miller. I hate Prime for taking off I Dream Of Jeannie from their line-up for that show. I mean, I know some people may like the show, but it's not my most fave show. The same goes for Petticoat Junction.

If people like Friends, that's fine with me. Go ahead and watch it.

There are some shows on TV that I really can't stand, and Friends is one of hem.

To argue that because a show is popular that automatically makes it good does not work. The quality of the show has no bearing on whether or not it is popular or unpopular. And the Emmies are self-congratulatory nonsense anyway, chosen by a philistine good-old-boy network.

In my opinion, "Friends" is not even remotely funny, its characters are not engaging enough for me to want to watch them, and the theme song is hellish to listen to. I hate the fact that such a bad show can become so bloody popular, but that's a separate issue. The show is symptomatic of all that's wrong with TV and with all of popular culture.

I think one reason some people claim to hate or dislike "Friends" is to feel better about themselves. I was talkin' with my sister about this once, and she said, "People like to feel like they're intelectually above anything that is hugely popular, so of course 'Friends' is an easy target. They say, 'Oh, that's not a good show. It doesn't even have good humor or characters. I pity the tasteless people that actually like it.' They'll say whatever just to make 'em feel like they're 'too good' for it."

And I think she has a good point. I'm sure that doesn't go for everyone, but it does make sense...

In that case, I want you to immediatley turn your TV to ABC at 12:00pm (central) on Monday because "All My Children" got 21 nomination at this years Daytime Emmys. If you say no, I should have to repeat your little paragraph back to you.

I HATE FRIENDS
NOTHING YOU COULD SAY OR DO WILL MAKE ME LIKE IT
NOW PLEASE JUST SHUT UP ABOUT IT AND STOP TRYING TO MAKE ME LIKE IT BECAUSE I NEVER EVER WILL! OK? If it's so popular I think it would have stayed for another seasons, but of course the greedy 'stars' on the show want more money........those spoiled little twits.

They might take over most of the good shows *no offense* but I kind of agree those shows do take a lot of space in sydication and in the Prime-time eye. But I do like Home Inprovement, it is pretty funny. TBS and WGN are picking up to many of these shows and packing them way to much into their schedule, by my view. I think some of those networks should air more family inviting shows, more classics, that we don't get to see often enough.
