Default The worst episode ever and I have no desire to watch this mess in syndication again

The “SPECIAL” show where Blanche dreams about her husband being alive and then two grown men, Lyle and Sonny, are fighting over Dorothy.

Such as DUMBASS episode and makes no sense whatsoever

This episode put the S in stupid

Hmmmmm....Not a favorite of mine, for sure, and I would have much preferred they substitute that episode for a Halloween episode I always wished they had done. Think of the possible fun storylines!

But I can't help but notice you sure seem annoyed at lots of Golden Girls issues lately, TVLegend. Something going on with you ???

Need a hug?

No, I’m just posting about the show, but I don’t mind a hug.

Not one of my favorite episodes either. Blanche's recurring dream about George proves that he's still very much on her mind after years of him being dead and it also proves that he was the one and only love of her life. But you know what episode I hate much more? It's the episode where George's illegitimate son comes by for a visit. Once he learned that George was dead, he should have left. There was NO reason for him to tell Blanche about George. No reason at all. I felt bad for Blanche. It totally destroyed her memory of George. The son only should have told Blanche if George was still alive. Then there would have been a reason. But once he knew that George had passed, it served absolutely no purpose to inform Blanche that her husband was an unfaithful snake in the grass. That son was a douche.

And then his OVALTINE consuming looking ass had the nerve to come BACK to the house and ask questions about George. Of all people, why bother his WIFE about it?

And in the end, he leaves with just a photograph of George fishing. I suppose he must have thought it was worth destroying Blanche's life and memory of George just to get some stupid picture. That douche accomplished absolutely nothing. I hated that guy.

Right. So because your mother’s a skank and your “awesome” dad was really sleeping around behind my back you decide to toss it in my face? How awkward was that for Blanche and then she thought she was catching the sicko’s eye.

I hated the one in which Rose somehow inherited a pig (!)and Dorothy led the others in somehow trying to use the pig to extract a big money inheritance for pure greed. SO stupid and OOC for all of them and no, it's NOT a dream!

OMG thats one of my favorite episodes and is hysterical.

Back to the OP. Yes this dream episode was dumb and shows the writers running out of ideas near the end. First 3 seasons were some of the best TV ever. Season 4 is decent but it goes down hill rather fast after that.

It's a wacky episode, with two celebrities fighting over Dorothy in Blanche's dream, but the part with Blanche's husband coming back - I wasn't crazy about that part.

I thought the end, where Blanche realises that she was able to hug her husband in her dream, and it made her feel happy because when she had the dream before she never got to hug her husband, that was so sweet and touching. When you dream about a deceased loved one, and you share a special moment with them in your dream, it's so amazing, and it was really articulated perfectly in this episode.

Just that alone makes me love this episode.

I did like the two celebrities fighting over Dorothy, because the celebrities were pretty random and it was just strange but funny.

That episode was more daffy than anything else, especially with Dorothy at the middle of that storyline. That was the best part of the episode.
To me, Bob Hope is the worst episode of the series and it's not close. It just made no sense for Rose to act that delusional and for the writers to take her character in that direction. It also contains the least excusable inconsistency/most egregious error of the series when Rose says "Nylund" was the last name of her adoptive parents, not the previously established Lindstrom. That error clearly was caught later because Lindstrom remained her maiden name upon reference for the rest of the series.
