In TV stations today when you turn on ABC have you noticed that they seemed to change their image and I want to know why this is? Is it because ABC wants to appeal to a more broader audience by having a more advanced lineup? When you look at the general picture in the 80's and 90's ABC was the channel that catered to everyone and some of their biggest successes were sitcoms such as Growing Pains Head Of The Class Coach Two Guys A Girl And A Pizza Place and Perfect Strangers and Full House but once 2000 hit you could tell ABC was heading in a new direction by having less sitcoms and aiming toward reality shows and dramas like Grey's Anatomy and with this new direction ABC was adopting a new audience. Another thing that ABC is doing with new sitcoms is that they give the sitcoms a whole lot of promotion then when the sitcom airs the sitcom only airs three episodes and then gets canceled. Take for instance ABC had the sitcom Imaginary Mary and promoted it a lot then it got cancelled after so many episodes and the same thing with Bless This Mess which goes to show that ABC has gone downhill in sitcoms. A second thing I can't figure out is why does ABC think that game shows bring in huge ratings and every summer they have a game show block on Sundays? I understand that ABC is hoping to find their next blockbuster since Who Wants To Be A Millionaire aired in 1999 but with the game shows Supermarket Sweep and Celebrity Family Feud I think they overhype them too much and Supermarket Sweep is not promoted as much this upcoming season and it tells me that it's cancelled soon enough. I also can't figure out how Press Your Luck aired on ABC when CBS should've grabbed it because they were the original home of Press Your Luck in 1983? Finally this new thing with dramas is they take popular dramas and make spin-offs of them and I cannot see how ABC gets ratings from them. Take for example Grey's Anatomy has spun-off Private Practice and Station 19 and Station 19 gets bigger ratings than Grey's Anatomy and Grey's Anatomy went downhill when Patrick Dempsey left and now you never hear much about Patrick Dempsey anymore. But if ABC could go back to focusing on more sitcoms it would sure attract a huge audience indeed
