Hulu Pushes Premiere Date for "The Orville: New Horizons"; Seth MacFarlane Says New Season will be “Worth The Wait” Imposed by Covid Production Delays
by Matt Grobar Feb. 4, 2022 Fans of Seth MacFarlane’s space adventure series "The Orville" impatiently awaiting its third season— titled "The Orville: New Horizons", in its move from Fox to Hulu—will have to wait just a little bit longer. While unveiling a sneak peek, Hulu today announced that the new season will now debut on June 2, having previously been set to launch as one of the streamer’s original series on March 10. Seth MacFarlane addressed the show’s latest delay via Twitter. “To all The Orville fans: Thanks for being so patient with us as we’ve navigated the production challenges resulting from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic,” he wrote. “As occasionally happens, our show has been repositioned amidst the ever-changing television schedule landscape, which means that the wait will be just a bit longer, and we’re now preparing for a June 2nd launch on Hulu.” “We’ve always promised you a television experience that will make it worth the wait, and we’re not wavering on that. We understand the frustration you’re feeling over more delays, so we want to give you a little taste of what’s to come. Here’s a sneak peek at the first few minutes of our season opener, and our new main title!” https://deadline.com/video/the-orvil...te-sneak-peak/ |

The Orville may be done: "There are no current plans for a fourth season"
Seth MacFarlane's busy schedule with other projects has put The Orville in limbo, reports Deadline's Nellie Andreeva. "The Orville has been a passion project — and a big undertaking — for Seth MacFarlane who created, writes, directs, executive produces and stars in the space comedy-drama. As the series is preparing for the June 2 launch of Season 3 on Hulu, there are no current plans for a fourth season. I hear the cast of the series was released in August when their most recent options expired." As Andreeva notes, MacFarlane just cast The Orville's Scott Grimes on his Ted series. "While there are no plans for Season 4 of The Orville, I hear Season 3 is not designed as a definitive ending to the series," Andreeva adds. "The door has been left open for MacFarlane to revisit it with a new installment if/when he wants to do it in the future. In case he decides to do it, the cast will have to be reassembled, and new deals need to be made." |
