Why do the episodes end so abruptly?? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I just saw my first ever Columbo episode, "An Exercise in Fatality" .

Yet after he explains to Milo Junis how HE is the killer the cops don't come & arrest him! The show just suddenly ends with the credits!

What's up with that??

That's how most of the episodes end.

But they should actually show the criminal getting busted like they do in most crime shows so it gives closure.
