Disney Acquisition Request: Sony Pictures - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Dear To Whom It May Concern,

I have a proposal for The Walt Disney Company: to make a deal with Sony Corporation for The Walt Disney Company to purchase Sony Pictures for an estimated $5 billion.

As part of the Studio's Sony Pictures acquisition, Sony Corporation shall retain the rights to PlayStation and other non-film/TV products e.g. the "Final Fantasy" video game franchise, while the current Sony Pictures Television banner be folded into Disney Media Distribution; similarly, as part of its Sony Pictures acquisition, the home entertainment unit of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment shall be renamed Columbia Pictures Home Entertainment once Disney's acquisition of Sony Pictures is complete.

Likewise, Sony Pictures, once Disney acquires its film library, shall
be folded permanently into Columbia Pictures as a Disney subsidiary, with all Columbia Pictures titles for perpetuity Distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

Tentatively, I propose that Disney's Sony Pictures acquisition shall be complete by no later than September 1, 2022; as part of its Sony Pictures acquisition, not only will Disney get full "Spider-Man" movie rights (with all future "Spider-Man" films be issued under the Marvel Studios banner) like I'm sure it wants to, but it'll also gain full ownership of the following films and TV shows, including, but not limited to, the following titles.

1. Married With Children -- Created by Ron Leavitt & Michael Moye, "Married With Children" originally aired for 10 seasons on the FOX Television Network from April 5, 1987 - June 9, 1997, totaling 259 episodes (including 3 hour-long episodes split into 2 parts for Rerun Syndication, making the total episode count to 262 half-hour episodes). The series focused on the Bundy family of Chicago, Illinois who lived at 9674 Jeopardy Lane in Chicago: dad Al (Ed O'Neill), a hapless shoe salesman unhappily married for 15 years to wife Peg (Katey Sagal), with whom she had 2 teenage children: 15-year-old Kelly (Christina Applegate), and 11-year-old Bud (David Faustino). Living next door to the Bundys were young newlywed couple Steve (David Garrison) and Marcy (Amanda Bearse) Rhoades, young and gloriously in love until Al started explaining the real world to Steve and Peg likewise did with Marcy.

2. Starship Troopers -- A joint production between Tri-Star Pictures and Touchstone Pictures (a former Disney banner), "Starship Troopers" was adapted from a book by Robert Heinlein; the film starred, among many others, Casper Van Dien, Neil Patrick Harris and Jake Busey. With international rights already owned by Disney, "Starship Troopers" would be FULLY owned by Disney IF it were to purchase the complete Sony Pictures film library.

3. The Larry Sanders Show -- Created by Garry Shandling, "The Larry Sanders Show" originally aired on the HBO Television Network from August 15, 1992 - May 31, 1998, spanning 6 seasons of 90 half-hour episodes; the show was based on Garry's real-life experiences as guest-host of Johnny Carson's "Tonight Show" and what he saw when cameras weren't rolling in that job.

The question is: Why does it have to be The Walt Disney Company acquiring Sony Pictures Entertainment (other than for the Spider-Man film franchise)? If I wanted Sony Pictures to be acquired by another conglomerate, it'd be ViacomCBS.

Again, why Disney?

If VicomCBS were to buy/merge with Sony Pictures, not only would the possibility of retiring the name "Sony Pictures Television" in favor of bringing back "Columbia Tristar Television" be raised, how does "Columbia-Paramount-Tristar" sound?

This is in no way an indication of a merger between The Walt Disney Company and Sony Pictures, but it is seen as the latest sign of the decline of the physical disc trade.
