TV "B Positive" Adds 6, Promotes Linda Lavin, David Anthony Higgins, Darryl Stephens

Linda Lavin, David Anthony Higgins, Darryl Stephens Upped to Series Regulars on "B Positive"; Six Set to Recur
by Denise Petski
September 1, 2021

We’ll be seeing more of Norma, Jerry and Gideon on the second season of Chuck Lorre’s "B Positive" as Linda Lavin, David Anthony Higgins and Darryl Stephens have been promoted to series regulars.

Additionally, Hector Elizondo (Last Man Standing), Jane Seymour (The Kominsky Method, Dr. Quinn), Ben Vereen (The Good Fight), Celia Weston (Dead Man Walking, Junebug), Jim Beaver (Supernatural), and Anna Maria Horsford (Hacks, Pose) have been added to the recurring cast.

- Elizondo recurs as Harry, a gruff, no-nonsense resident at Valley Hills, fighting to keep his terminally-ill wife, Meredith, comfortable.

- Seymour is Bette, an aging beauty who is incapable of coming to terms with her senior status.

- Vereen plays Peter, a brilliant, retired professor struggling with a failing memory.

- Weston portrays Meredith, dealing with her terminal illness as best as she can while trying to help her husband, Harry, move.

- Beaver is Spencer, former NYPD transit cop, was a 9/11 first responder. Politically and socially, he finds it difficult to behave appropriately.

- Horsford plays Althea Ludlum, the no nonsense administrator of Valley Hills. She’s a thorn in Gina’s side, but Gina needs help running the place.

sounds like they are going to transition the show to focus on Valley Hills instead of Drew's home and the dialysis center

Did his sick girlfriend with cancer die? I stopped watching the show when she arrived, which turned the show into a soap opera, especially since I did not like the actress or the storyline.

Is this still a storyline?

Need Polly Holiday in an episode (maybe as Gina’s grandmother to tell Linda Lavin to “Kiss her Ass,” with Lavin retorting “Your grits taste like your ass.” Be so much wordplay on an old show most young people have never seen and probably how Polly and Linda liked each other.

You can have it for free Chuck Lorre.

One problem with that: Polly Holliday is retired from acting after 2010. I don't think you'll get such a wish. Sorry.

Hey,the recent insertion of the sister to Lavin's "Norma" character has some promise.

A gruff, narcissistic battle axe who stole and married Norma's boyfriend "Stanley" 57 years earlier. I found it quite humorous when Lavin quipped how Stanley got just what he deserved spending 57 years with such a peach of a lady.

I wonder what happened because Celia Weston never appeared on the show. Her part was recast. I just don't know why. I don't think the recast was mentioned on this site and just figured I'd go ahead and mention it.
