Smile Outdated Themes/Things in Good Times? :)

Marshall Fields still being in active business is outdated.

Lola Falana being a "Hot It Girl," is outdated. Lola is currently in her late 70's..

James spanking Eddie, a boy who was not his Son is outdated in 2021. Hell, James spanking even his own kids is outdated in 2021.

Presidents being Richard Nixon, (Year 1974), Gerald Ford, and Jimmy Carter is outdated in 2021.

Calling Black People Black and not African American is outdated in 2021.

The Millitant Black Panther Michael was trying to be is outdated in 2021. Now it's BLM. Hmm. Maybe not so outdated after all...

Telegrams are outdated.

People largely mugging in the streets for money is outdated, especially with lots of people having concealed weapons Permit, like what happened when a guy TRIED to mug a man on the street recently and was killed when his intended Victim had a Concealed Weapons Permit and had a Gun on him. In 2021, People who want to steal from other People usually tend to use Identity Theft, Work From Home Scams, hacking, and Scams such as the 419 Scam, Romance Scams, phishing, Lottery/Sweepstakes Scam, IRS Impersonating Scams, etc.

Rent being $100 is outdated.

Afros are outdated.

The 70's "Hip talk," is outdated. Right on, Jive Turkey, Dynomite.

Grafiti is outdated.

Physically going into banks to do banking is slightly outdated. Many People do online Banking now.

Michael playing outside is outdated. Nowadays, he'd most likely be playing games on his phone or computers.

Having a Rotary phone is outdated. Having a landline at all is outdated.

No cell phones is outdated.

No internet is outdated.

No computer at all is outdated.

A dime to use a payphone is outdated. Payphones are outdated.

JJ having money for two Big Mac Meals and seeing a movie for two people plus drinks and snacks for both People for less than $6 is outdated. Today, I did calculations and 2 big Mac Meals is about $14, two movie tickets for say IMAX and 3D combined together is about $40, two large popcorns is about $18, two large sodas is about $14, so JJ's date with Henrietta that cost him less than $6 would be about $84 in 2021! Holy crap!

James working all day for $5(IIRC James mentioned to the shady Encyclopedia Salesman that his shady Contract cost him a whole days worth of work after he gave him a $5 is extremely outdated in 2021. In 2021, James would have at LEAST made $8 an hour or $40 a day. Edit. I went to Google and the Minimum Wage was actually about $2.30 an hour when the Encyclopedia Hustle aired. James still would have worked over 2 hours to be scammed.... :/ Also $2.30 in general is Minimum Wage for Waiters and Waitresses as they make up the difference in tips. But $2.30 is no longer the Minimum Wage in 2021 generally. It's more about $9 today.

I think Chicago having an Alderman is outdated in 2021. I think they are called Mayors now....

Lots of GT Fans mentioned that The Evans should have been receiving Welfare. It was James's pride that prevented them from getting Welfare. "I'm a grown man with 3 kids and a Wife! We ain't getting no help from Welfare!" Was seriously his attitude....

The Evans getting excited for a $2,500 Lottery win is laughable in 2021. 250 MILLION would make sense for them to be excited, but $2,500 is Pick 4 straight at $1 in 2021. The Evans talking about all the extravagant things they could buy with the $2,500 like sending Thelma to college in Spain to learn Spanish, loaning Willona money and credit and Florida wanting a bunch of Mink Coats is extremely laughable in 2021. It MIGHT be one month's rent for an Apartment in 2021.

Hmm. Tvfactfan pointed out that with inflation, $2500 is actually more like $12,000 in 2021, which is a LOT more than $2,500 in today's money. Still, I don't know if you could do all the extravagant things the Evans were fantasizing about doing, such as sending Thelma to College in Spain to learn Spanish. Florida's Mink coats, maybe, but sending someone to College in Spain has got to be expensive, even in 1976.

Hmm. Second edit. I just looked up "How much does it cost to send an American to College in Spain?" It cost about $11,000 for one Semester to send an American overseas to Spain for College. So, yes, the Evans would have had enough to send Thelma to Spain with the $12,000 with $1,000 to spare. Add in Airfare(About $680 in today's money for Airfare and $300 spending money for Thelma, that basically would have eaten up the entire $12,000 in today's money.

Keith getting ready to sign a $50,000 Contract as a Football Player for the Football Team is laughable in 2021. His Contract in 2021 would be more like 50 MILLION, not 50 THOUSANDS.

It was a Family of 4 when JJ won the Lottery. James had died in the previous Season. Unless you count Willona as an Aunt of sorts... A GT Fan said something like,"Willona was like the Sassy Aunt of the Evans" . Besides, the $12,000 would have went to Thelma's College in Spain....
