Fans of '70s TV will be interested to know that come Aug.
6, Hollywood will be hit with a wave of John Ritter, Suzanne Somers and
Joyce DeWitt wanna-bes. It's an open casting call for "Three's Company
Revisited," producer Stan Brooks' NBC movie about the behind-the-scenes
intrigue on the ditzy hit sitcom. A theater for the auditions has yet to
be announced. Brooks notes that Ritter, Somers and DeWitt "were unknowns
who became big stars. Now we're looking for unknowns to play them."

Brooks also reveals that DeWitt will serve as narrator of the flick,
which is targeted for a late August production start. According to
descriptions of the script, it'll show the "greed, manipulation and
avarice of Hollywood managers and network producers when they get their
hands on a runaway hit."

"It's based on interviews and research, with all of us involved being
big fans of the show," says the producer. "I actually was friends with
Don Knotts' son when I was growing up, and I'd go to the 'Three's
Company' Friday-night tapings." Knotts, you may recall, played the
ever-harried Mr. Furley on the show.

CALLING ALL CHRISSYS AND JACKS AND JANETS; COME AND KNOCK ON THE DOOR OF AN OPEN CASTING CALL FOR ACTORS TO PORTRAY THE THREE MAIN CAST MEMBERS IN NEW NBC TV MOVIE – 'THREE'S COMPANY REVISITED' (WORKING TITLE)

Open Casting Call Takes Place Tuesday, Aug. 13 (10am-12noon) at Highways Performing Space in Santa Monica

BURBANK, Calif. -- August 5, 2002 -- The producers of “'Three’s Company' Revisited” (working title), a new television movie featuring an unflinching glimpse behind the scenes of the troubled and turbulent, sexy 1970s series, will conduct a special casting search in the Los Angeles area -- mirroring the original casting for the beloved, classic comedy series. The producers are looking for three young, aspiring, look-alike actors to portray Joyce DeWitt, John Ritter and Suzanne Somers - who starred, respectively, as the characters of Janet Wood, Jack Tripper and Chrissy Snow in the hit comedy.

All energetic, enthusiastic, and outgoing candidates in the Los Angeles area are encouraged to meet the casting directors in person at the open casting call that will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 13 from 10a.m. to 12noon at Highways Performance Space, 1651 18th Street, Santa Monica, CA, 90404 (1/4 block north of Olympic.

The movie, an insider’s look at the unfunny side of comedic success on network television, will begin filming later this summer.

In 1977, three relatively unknown actors (only John Ritter was semi-known) were given the opportunity of a lifetime when they signed to star in a racy new sitcom, “Three’s Company.” The comedy centered on two attractive, young women who made the rent on their Santa Monica beachside apartment by taking in a third roommate - a male forced to pretend he’s gay to fool the landlords and the girls’ parents. The series rocketed in the ratings as an instant hit - despite the outcry of critics and moralists - who objected to the double-entendres and quasi-sexual hijinks on the show.

However, the true behind-the-scenes story of “Three’s Company” will expose a once idyllic workplace that deteriorated into a battleground beset by business dealings, contact disputes, cast rivalries, clashes between producers and network executives -- and finally, a round of cast replacements which hastened the demise of the show.

Stanley M. Brooks (“Living with the Dead,” “Submerged”) is the executive producer and Scott Anderson (“Living with the Dead”) is the supervising producer of the production from Once Upon a Time Films.

Entertainment Tonight had a short segment on Three's Company Revisited last night.
http://www.etonline.com/newslink/index.htm#d
They said John and Suzanne passed on this feature. Joyce will narrate the film.

That link might not work for long, so here is what the link says:
'THREE'S COMPANY' SEARCH
August 13, 2002 | Hundreds of hopefuls came and knocked on the door of a Santa Monica casting agent today hoping to be picked to star in NBC's "Three's Company Revisited." Producers are searching for lookalike actors to portray SUZANNE SOMERS, JOHN RITTER and JOYCE DeWITT in the TV movie. The drama will be a behind-the-scenes peek at the hit '70s series and the turmoil that developed out of view of the sitcom cameras.

I put a search in for them in IMDb, I got the pages for the two women but Brett Anthony doesn't have one.

The one for Melanie Deanne Moore (Joyce):
http://us.imdb.com/Name?Moore,+Melanie+Deanne

The one for Judy ("Jud") Tyler (Suzanne):

Hey, FYI.... the actress (Melanie Moore) who will be playing Janet in the TV movie is also the girl who is on all of the Glad commercials. I also saw her on the Entertainment Tonight special about the auditions for the movie. She's so cute! I think she will make a great Janet!
