Default Why Ken Jennings was passed over for Jeopardy host

A new article suggests that Ken tweeted some inappropriate things about disabled people in 2014 and that he did not do well with "focus groups" during his guest hosting.

Ken Jennings was not passed over because of ancient Tweets. Sony clearly didn't do much vetting of their contenders' pasts when Mike Richards had to resign less than a month after being picked as permanent host because of his questionable podcast. Mayim Bialik has said bad things about Harvey Weinstein's victims in the past. In this online age a whole lot of people will have said things they might not agree with today and have matured since then. Let ancient bygones stay buried in the past. My friend with insider info would have mentioned if Ken did poorly with focus groups, that was Katie Couric who got good ratings but bad reviews. It was because of Sony's beyond dumb rule of you must be exclusive to us, also my friend mentioned some of the (dumb) suits at Sony not liking Ken, but other Sony suits were very much in favor of him. Mayim Bialik wouldn't have been hired as host of the primetime specials if they had a problem with her past comments. Ken wouldn't have gotten at least triple the guest hosting time of any other contender if they had a problem with his past comments on Twitter.

I remember something Ken Jennings said that made my mom upset awhile back. But you know what? She has completely forgotten about that now and agreed Ken was a good host, and I am not going to remind her of Ken's comments either. Some people though have nothing better to do than go through ancient history trying to eliminate a person from contention in this sad age of cancel culture. Ken and Mayim have both said questionable things in the past. But they were also easily the best two guest hosts.

This post from another thread includes an article that says she has a history of shaming Harvey Weinstein victims. I didn't read the article, but if the headline is correct, yes she has said bad things about them.

Daily Beast is a propaganda site. I read the op-ed Mayim wrote the day it was published. She was advising young women to dress respectable and to behave professionally in the workplace. There was nothing wrong with her advice.
