Default Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom

Would it be possible to get a forum board for this tv series? If not, where would you suggest that I post about this tv show?

Thank you.

Wild Kingdom is unlikely to get its own board. The only unscripted shows that have their own board or sub-forum here are Unsolved Mysteries and American Idol.

I used the wrong terminology. I meant a sub forum in the 'All Other TV Shows' Board. In order for all of the Wild Kingdom posts to be contained in one sub forum making them easier to find. Wild Kingdom has an official YouTube channel with all of their old episodes uploaded and I wanted to bring some of them over to this site for people who may like to view them.

I think a single thread in All Other TV Shows would suffice. We don't need a separate thread for every available episode. It looks like they have over 300 episodes on their channel.

I remember watching this show in syndication on Saturday mornings. You can't go wrong with Marlin Perkins and Jim Fowler. I like watching Fowler's appearances on Johnny Carson. He had a memorable Seinfeld appearance.

Can you tell us which episode? I'd watch!

I loved WK as a kid, and it will always have a special place in my heart. I remember in the later years, Marlon would get Jim to do all of the dangerous stuff. "Jim, here, is now going to approach the lion as closely as possible, while I direct him from inside the jeep..."

He's seen handing off a net of ducks at about the 20 minute mark. He's the guy on the left.

My only concern with that is that when people start to comment in the thread the episodes will get all spread out making it time consuming to follow, locate the episodes- all discombobulated instead of sequenced.

As always I appreciate your feedback and will move on to my next project within this wonderful forum. All the best.

Way cool! That duck episode was a good one. Always loved those nature shows, and WK was a favorite. Is your uncle still around?

Yep. His health isn't the greatest, but he's still around. He's 84.

My concern is that some members might think you are flooding the View Today's Active Threads/View New Posts section with an excessive amount of threads. Maybe they could be spread out over a number of days.

I think the threads are viable on the active sitcom boards like The Facts of Life and Diff'rent Strokes. The goal of them should be to get some discussion on them. I honestly don't think there would be a lot discussion on Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom.

Any shows like the animated series that don't have their own board should be posted in a single thread.

I don't know if that last part was actually true as much as it was a running gag by Johnny Carson. I remember seeing Marlon Perkins as an old man wrestling a large python in a swamp. I also loved Wild Kingdom as a kid and continued to watch it even after Marlon's retirement.

I remember the python episode, as well. That was impressive. But there were many episodes, in the later years, where it really was Jim doing the work while Marlin waited in the vehicle. It took someone as brilliant as Johnny Carson to sort of skewer that, but in a humorous way. Jim claimed Marlin never said, "I'll wait here while Jim..." but Marlin did wait back at the vehicle/blind on many later episodes. Not that he can be blamed: he was born in 1905, so by 1975, he was in his 70s, still going on safaris. It was remarkable how long he held on hosting the show.

Yeah, it really was a great show. I know I learned a lot about respect for wildlife, in addition to all the details about how wild animals live. The post-Marlin episodes were still fun and educational, but didn't have that "early 20th century explorer" flavor that Marlin brought to the show. I guess part of that was the old-timey library set where Marlin would show us a map of the area.
